Prolouge

I looked at her through the cage. She looked helpless but she was everything but.

“I cannot believe we had one of them living in our village. It disgusts me. You disgust me. Bane!” I spat.

“Please Mikael, don’t patronize me. Once I have our child nothing will stop us. Me and her.” She rubbed her stomach. “We will destroy everything in our path.”

“Ellice you will never turn my daughter into a monster. She will be as pure as the snow that falls outside.”

She went silent.

“Don’t be so sure. Its time.” She said while smiling. I just wanted my daughter out of this monster. How could I be so foolish to fall in love with a Bane.

“Medic! She’s ready.” I stepped out of the room and into the cold air. I waited and as the wind blew I heard it. The cry of an infant. I ran back inside and the medics held my daughter, my beautiful daughter. I went for her and took her into my arms, she was no larger than both my hands put together.

“Watch out!” One of the medics yelled. I looked up and ran out of the way just as Ellice ran towards me.

“She’s mine. Give her to me!” she yelled.

I ran outside with my daughter still in my arms. She was sleeping so silently ignoring the madness around her.

I heard growling and I knew she was turning.

Turning into the beast that she is.

I took a step back, the snow crunching beneath my feet.

“You will never escape.”  She growled.

I looked around. She was right, there was no escape. The village was miles away.

She had completely turned now.

She was just about to pounce when the ground started to shake. We both stopped trying to find the source of the earthquake. I looked up and found that this was no earthquake.

This was an avalanche.

The snow came tumbling down with the force to kill an entire village. I glanced towards Ellice and saw her jumping towards me but just before she came the avalanche landed on top of her flinging her down the mountain.

It was a miracle. The avalanche did not even touch my daughter or me. I looked at her and as one tear fell from my eyes I kissed her. That day I decided to call her… Ava. In honor of the avalanche that saved our very lives.
