Chapter Five: I think I'm jealous
" Is it a boy? Who is it? " Savannah was pleading at lunch, launching me with questions on why I seem cheery today. I didn't answer a question. It's both exasperating and hilarious because seeing her desperate is pretty funny while her asking me questions is really irritating.
I managed to subsequently duck all of the questions she'd thrown at me making her more suspicious, although, she answered most of her questions, she still doubted as of the teacher might give her an F if she'd failed but I was no teacher and she was no lower than a queen.
I think again and look around me.
People were moving, some are moving faster, grinding against people just to get to their next class while others were just lying around, much slower than the peace lovers who were spread on the grassy field, picking the grasses and singing along to the songs that seniors play on their guitar.
The cheerleaders, Lindsay's and Cat's squad, was terrorizing another senior named Sarah Harrison. She was my old friend before I became distant. I can never understand why Cat would bully her. I mean, she's her cousin. I can't help but feel guilty about not being there for her, especially when her mother died. I know what she feels to lose someone you love.
Without thinking, I went to her aide. Everyone seemed shocked, specifically Lindsay, that I would defy her.
" Hey! Stop bullying her. " She smirked as if taunting me.
" Oh yeah? Then make me. " Her crooked smile didn't really match her small face because it was way too big that it makes her look like a clown. Creepy.
Everyone knows that I'm the richest person in this university and that was another advantage that I could use during these times.
" I can make you leave this campus just as fast as you do a backflip. "
She craned her neck in a sassy manner, hissing at me like a rattle snake in the desert, hungry at a scared prey. Except, I wasn't a prey.
" Listen, you cocky nerd. I am the heart of this school. "
I smirked. This time, it was my turn to retort at her surgeon-operated face. Yes, we all know that she had herself fixed because we still remembered in freshman year and she looked like Snow White's old hag of a stepmother. No one even wanted to look at her or even touch her. Until, she miraculously came back in Sophomore year with a hot body, sexy cheerleader kind of clothes (the mini skirts and slutty like, you get what I mean.) and a sassy and bossy attitude. Everyone wanted her and to be like her, obviously she had it all done.
" Are you sure? I can vanish you from this school. Do you remember who my parents were? My heirs. Surely, you already know. " Her mouth opened, planning an insult, but closed again. I wanted to say, " That's what I thought. " but that would be too much.
She gave me one of her murderous glares. Probably plotting my death in those little brain of hers.
I glanced back to Sarah with a worried look but she only gave me a reassuring smile. It was shocking because that wasn't what I expected her to do. I was thinking of something more harsh, like slap my face and say, " Oh, so you're here now? Where were you for the last 5 years? " I instantly felt guilty.
Sarah must've sensed me tensing. She studied my face for a long time and sighed, " You must think that I should be screaming at you right now. But I never held grudge on you, Stella. I know how you felt. " There was pity on her eyes as she painfully remembered the memories.
" I know but I also know that you felt the same way she died. I mean- I'm sorry, I shouldn't have said that. " She smiled at me, just to mentally say that it was okay.
