Lay's POV

I open my eyes slowly and shut my eyes immediately after having the sunlight shine brightly into my eyes.

"Ohh, mmm." I groan and cover the sun with my hand. "So bright."

I sigh and roll over and bring my arm over to cuddle Gracie.

My arm lands on nobody, except the covers.

I shoot up. I look around the room.

A small sticky note catches my attention.

"Awake? Come to the kitchen." I read out loud.

I get up from the bed and ruffle my hair to try to fix it.

I walk out and see Gracie making something in the kitchen.

She was wearing jean shorts and a lost white T-shirt that says 'tomorrow' on it with a black box around it.

Her hair was down, it was messy, but it was the most gorgeous sight in front of my eyes.

She turns her head slightly. When she sees me, she smiles the most cutest smile.

"Good morning, my love!" She says, sounding very energetic.

I yawn and rub my eyes. "Good morning, my cutie." I go up to her and kiss her cheek.

Gracie giggles and shakes her head.

"No," She puckers her lips and points to it. "Right here."

I chuckle. "You are so cute." I peck her lips.

"What are you making here?" I ask, seeing a knife and nicely cut up fruit.

"Well, even though we are on vacation, I think we should still eat healthy things." Gracie takes out a blender.

I roll my eyes. "Healthy things..."

"Mhm, but in this case, it's going to be a smoothie." Gracie places the fruit in the blender. "And it's going to be delicious."

I smile. "Oh, and how will you know it'll be good?"

Gracie places a strawberry in my mouth.

"It'll be good. Do you see vegetable juice anywhere here?"

"Where did you even get all this stuff?" I ask.

"Oh!" Gracie claps her hands. "I went to the grocery store this morning and got it. Cheap prices, I love it!"

"Ho-How?"

"Ha, Yixing, when it comes to food, I can find it."

I laugh. "I'm so glad we're married."

"Same." Gracie kisses my nose.

She starts to blend the fruit up, along with some milk and ice.

"Oh...another co...thing hap...pened!" Gracie says while the blender was still blending.

I could barely make out her words.

"I met som.....at the store! She was really n....and we bec...good fri...nds so....quic..y."

I nod, half knowing what she said.

"Her name is We...n...."

I couldn't hear the last part.

"I invited her and her husband over for lunch this afternoon. Is that ok with you?" She says once the blender stops.

I nod. "Ok, sounds great."

"They said they'll here in 5 minutes." Gracie checks her phone. "I can't wait for you to meet them."

I tiit my head and smile. "Why?"

"Because," Gracie jumps onto my lap and hugs my chest. "Her husband is a lot like you! Funny, sweet, shy. He also loves to sing and dance."

I nod. "Well, he sounds alright. I can't wait to meet him."

She beams and kisses my lips.

"Is the food ready?" I ask.

She nods.

"Let's set up the picnic now."

"Ok!" She gets up and hands me the blanket. "Set this outside."

I nod and take the blanket. I walk outside and take a deep breath and the fresh morning smell at the beach.

I roll down the blanket and smooth out the surface.

Gracie comes out with two picnic baskets.

"This will be a lovely day!" She cheers. "We'll have couple friends. We could go on double dates and have our children become besties!"

I laugh. "If all this goes well, then that'll definitely happen, my princess."

"You're being so nice today." She leans up and kisses my chin. "Why is that?"

I pout. "What? I can't be nice to my wife?"

"Hehe, no."

"Come on, let's go inside and...wait!" I wink and grab ahold of her hand.

KNOCK KNOCK KNOCK

Gracie jumps from the sudden noise.

"They're here!" She squeals and rubs to the door.

She opens the door and is greeted by an excited hug.

I couldn't see the girl, only her hair.

It looked quite familiar. I don't know why.

"Lay, come here." Gracie motions me to come.

I walk over and greet the two kind people.

As I reach the door, my heart hides behind my throat.

"Lay?" That familiar voice that broke my heart years and years ago.

"Wendy."
