3 weeks had passed and I had not gone to school nor had my dad gone to work. We just kind of potted around the house cleaning and packing mum’s stuff up. At 11:30 on Saturday morning I got a call on my neglected iphone, from one of my closest friends-Charlie:
“Hey Charlie.”
“OMG, you don’t know how good it is to hear from you.”
I half-heartedly chuckle.
“How’ve you been holdin up?” she asks with sympathy in her voice.
“Were managing”
“Well I think you should get your arse back to school, we are all dying to see you. Especially Tyler” she giggles.
“What about Tyler?”
“He like’s you dummy.”
“Really?” I ask, with curiosity now taking over.
“Ah yeah, so I’ll pick you up on Monday morning be ready.”
“Don’t you think that’s a lit?”
“You’re better of coming sooner rather than later.”
She read my mind.
”Ok I’ll be ready.”
“Good, see you then.”
“Bye.”
And on that note she hung up.
Martin's P.O.V
Alcohol is the best thing right now, drinking away my wife’s memories.
“Dad, Dad, I’m going back to school on Monday.”
“Ok sweetie that sounds good” I said with a slight smile to show that I was listening.
“Hey dad if reckon you should go back to work too, it would be good for you.”
That was the sentence I was dreading to hear. But I will go back to work and maybe just maybe, things can go start to go right for me.
Hazel's P.O.V
6:30am, ARGH school, i pull on my plaid skirt, my white shirt and my socks. I go out to brush my hairand put in a loose fishtail braid that flops down over my shoulder. I cover my blotchy red skin with some foundation, i try not to draw attention to my red eyes by not putting any other makeup on. I have a light breakfast, and feeling a little bit nauseous, i pick my bag up (already packed from the night before) and head out the door.
I waited 15 minutes for Charlie to come and just when i thought she wasnt coming a car came slowly round the corner and pulls into our driveway.
"Hazel" she squeals.
"Charlie."
"You all ready?" she asks.
"As ready as i'll ever be." I say, doubt lingering on my voice.
"Ok then, lets go."
Why is she so excited?, its Monday and we have to go to school.
I take three deep breathsto try and calm my over-reacting nerves (like that helped) and get in the car. I drift in and out of reality remembering my mum and all the good times we had together and thinking about how dad was going back to work and horses, horses, horses, all this while Charlie raves on and on about whats happened while i was gone.
The minute i step out of the car i am swammed with what seems like the paparazzi, just without the cameras, the red carpet, or a beautiful dress. Everyone is just throwing questions at me like i'm a celebrity. Charlie grabs me by the arm snapping me back to reality and leads me to our lockers.
