Too Much Too Young

It was finally the weekend again.  Nora was suspended for one week because of the fight.  I felt awful but she kept telling me how amazing she felt finally bashing Angie.  Angie was suspended for a week also, so it was nice not having to worry about her being at school ready to jump me in the bathroom.  Ryan and I have been keeping it on the down low.  Even though Angie wasn't there, we didn't want people to know that we were interested in each other.  Word would get around and it would be bad for both of us.  I did feel like I was glued to my phone though, we texted each other so much.  I didn't tell Mama or Papa about the fight, but I did tell Mama that Ryan broke it off with Angie.  Brendon and I were walking home from school, Ryan had to go home right after school and couldn't hang out.

"So what should we do this weekend?" Brendon asked.

"Not sure, I do have a lot of homework to do."

"Boring! That's what Sunday's are for. Lets hang out with Nora." He said turning to me and smiling.

"Only if you ask her out!"

"She'll say no! I'm warming up to it." He said putting his hands in his pockets.  I looked at him a bit and sighed.

"Fine, i'll see what she's up to." I told him. Brendon left me once I got back to my apartment and I went upstairs.  I dug for the door keys in my backpack, finally letting myself in.

"I'm home!" I said out loud and headed to the kitchen.  Mama, Papa, and Ryan were sitting at the table looking at me when I got in.

"Ryan? What are you doing here?" I asked slowly taking a seat at the table.

"He came by to ask my permission to take you on a date." Papa said.  I froze waiting for his answer.  Ryan looked at him too, he hadn't received an answer yet neither.  Mama squeezed Papa's shoulder and smiled at him.

"You have her home by 8." He replied.  I smiled widely to match Ryan's smile.  I dropped off my back pack and ran a brush through my hair quick before following Ryan out to his car.

"Sorry to just drop in, I didn't want you to worry about me talking to your parents." He said opening the car door for me.

"Thank you for being a gentleman." I replied getting into the car.  He ran over to the drivers side and we started driving away.

"So I was thinking we'd go to a movie! Are you hungry? Do you want to get food first? Or do you want to eat popcorn and candy? Am I asking too many questions?" He said.  I giggled.

"Yes you are. And popcorn and candy sound great." I said to him.

"Sorry, just a little nervous.  This is our first official date." He said looking at me quick and then focusing on the road.  This was our first date, now I am a little nervous.  Ryan and I haven't spent a lot time together outside of school where it was just the two of us.  What if he ends up not liking me? What if I end up not liking him!?  I started to tap my fingers on my lap.  What do we even talk about? Oh my, I'm so boring, I can't even start a conversation with him.

"I was thinking we'd go see Up.  That movie about the house with the balloons." He said breaking the silence.

"Yes, that looks good.  I like animated movies."

"Me too.  My favorite Pixar movie is probably Monsters, Inc."

"Oh! I love that one! And A Bugs Life." I replied back to him.

"Yes!" He exclaimed.  We kept talking about our favorite movies until we finally got to the movie theater.  He bought our tickets, we got popcorn, candy, and a drink to share.  The theater was only halfway full, mostly of teenagers who were throwing popcorn at each other.  I felt Ryan put his arm around me, guiding me to a couple of empty seats that had a prime view to the screen.  I sat down and ate a couple pieces of popcorn.  Ryan put his arm around my shoulder and we both scooted closer together, even though there was an arm rest separating us.  I looked at him and he was smiling at me.

"What?" I asked.

"Nothin' you're just cute and I like looking at cute things." He said.  I smiled goofy and blushed.

"I like kissin' cute things." I said to him as we leaned closer to each other.  I pecked him on the lips and he returned the gesture a few times before the lights started to go down.  I got as comfortable against his arm as I could with the arm rest in the way.

--------------------------

I ended up crying during the movie, Ryan laughed quietly and kissed my cheek a few times.  Other than that embarrassing moment, everything went smoothly.  We kissed in the parking lot of the theater a few times before he drove me home.  I went upstairs to my apartment at 7:30, half an hour earlier than Papa's curfew for the date.  He smiled at me when I came in, happy that I was home.

"So, how was it?" Mama said coming into the room.

"He's wonderful!" I said sighing and sitting in an armchair near Papa.

"He's a good man, I like him so far," Papa said, "And I like the way he treats you, June-Bug."

"Me too." I said.  He was gentlemen in the way that he opened doors for me, asked permission to take me out, and brought me back in time.  But he was also hot in the way he would kiss me with his hands on my lower back, pulling me towards him so that there was no space between us.  His voice was mellifluous, and his touch warm and comforting.  I was really falling for him.
