Jack's Point of View

Me: Hey. My friends and I just got tickets to come see you perform tomorrow.

I sent this text to Elsa; I knew she wouldn't reply anyways.

Maybe I'd be lucky and she wouldn't even read it.

We stopped talking and neither of us really had an effort to try and talk again.

Elsa: Cool! Want backstage passes?

She replied almost instantly.

Wow.

That's faster than she's replied in the past 3 years.

Me: Only if you have some, if not it's no big deal.

Elsa: My agents know I came from Burgess so they're giving me extra time and passes to give to the people I knew and to visit with them while I'm here; considering I have no other free time 😂

She sent another text directly after that; I threw myself down on my bed with my phone in hand.

Elsa: How many do you need?

Me: Five, but honestly, it's cool if you don't have any extras. 😔

Honestly, I really didn't want to see the girl I've loved since the day I met her.

Elsa: Perfect! Meet & greets will be before the show so I'll email you the passes and you can show them to the guy running the entrance thingy and they should take you.

Me: Perfect.

Then my phone started ringing.

I guess texting wasn't enough for her; now I actually have to talk to her.

Me: "Hello?"

Elsa: "Someone has obviously hit puberty since the last time we've talked."

Me: "It's been 3 years and I'm 16 now. If I didn't hit it by now I probably wouldn't have ever hit it."

We both laughed but it wasn't really meant to be funny.

Elsa: "So, how's little Jackie Frost been these days?"

Me: "Fine I guess, I mean nothing has really changed since you left."

Elsa: "But I heard you have a girlfriend?"

Me: "How did you know?"

Elsa: "I follow you on Instagram, idiot."

Me: "Oh yeah."

Elsa: "She's really pretty."

Me: "I know that but she doesn't really have much of a personality."

Elsa: "Isn't that all you've ever wanted in a perfect girl was personality? You've never struck me as the 'I'm into looks' kind of guy."

Me: "I've changed since you left Elsa."

Elsa: "I can tell."

Me: "But I can tell that you haven't changed."

Elsa: "How so?"

Me: "You're just as upfront and personal as you were 3 years ago."

She gave out a slight chuckle before someone on her end of the line said something.

'Okay, okay, I'll be right there.' said Elsa to they person on the other line.

Me: "I assume you have to go rehearse or something?"

Elsa: "Full dress rehearsal before tomorrow night."

Me: "Sorry, go ahead and practice."

Elsa: "Don't be sorry, Jack."

The man shouted to her in her end of the line again.

Elsa: "Sorry, gotta go."

Before she hung up the phone, I stopped her.

Me: "Elsa—"

Elsa: "Yes?"

Me: "It's been good talking to you."

Elsa: "It's been nice to talk to you after 3 years of not speaking."

Me: "See you tomorrow night."

Then the phone call ended.

How will I survive tomorrow night?

🎃🎃🎃
⬆️Just because it's October and close to Halloween, I thought I should be festive.

I'm sorry there was so much dialogue but I felt it moved the story along a bit more than what I originally had planned.
