Chapter Seven
Eventually Trethan and I got out the door. Of course after many of my lessons on ‘how to portray yourself as a normal teenager.’
The beach was crowded, as it is every Saturday afternoon. My ears couldn’t tell which was brighter, the sun or the obnoxious neon bathing suits. Trethan was rather quiet as I’m guessing he was still taking it all in.
“Come on, there is a small clothes shop up the beach a little ways.” I say, as I point in the direction where the store was.
Trethan nods.
We walk in silence for a few moments as we both scan the beach, I steal a glance and peak at Trethan, who looked like he was going to puke.
“Are you okay?” I ask, noticing the pale shade that recently resided on his face. Trethan is silent for a moment.
“So many people.” he chokes out.
“what?” I say confused.
“it’s a siren thing.” he says, in a low voice. Making It clear he wanted no further questions.
Slightly offended I drop the conversation and we continue walking underneath the Miami sun.
I cut a glance at Trethan a while later, his eyes were fixed on something. I followed his gaze till I was staring at a girl.
She had short bleach blonde hair and dark over tanned skin that was showed off my her skimpy neon green bikini. From my moment of staring I realize she was walking towards us. walking towards Trethan.
I swallow hard. Jealously burned my gut. She was prettier and less modest than I could ever be. I was foolish to not notice until now that this whole time all eyes were on Trethan.
He was no doubt every girls dream guy. Maybe that’s why he was acting so weird.
I don’t say anything as the girl is now in talking distance from Trethan, she doesn’t even notice me. Or she’s ignoring.
“Hey.” the girl says, extending her letters to sound like a immature highschooler.
“Hey.” Trethan says, his word was cut sharp as it exited his mouth
He looked in pain.
For the first moment in a long time I wanted to disappear.
“I’m Amy, my friend and I wanted to know if you’re up for a swim.” the girl says as she motions to her friend who stood a little behind her, she was engaged with in a conversation with another guy.
I glance at Trethan, his lips looked like they were quivering.
“Sure I-”
“Okay! Yay!” the girl squeals excitedly, making me flinch.
What is he doing?
I turn and look at Trethan stunned. I can feel the girls eyes fall on me, but I wasn’t paying attention to her.
I’m going to regret this.
“Trethan, sweetie we have some errands to run, remember?” I say, in a sweet high pitched voice as I wrap my arms around Trethan’s bicep.
He doesn’t even look at me. His eyes were still fixed on Amy.
I frown. Then take a step in front of him, shielding Amy from his vision.
He still isn’t looking at me, it felt like he was looking right through me.
With as much will power I had I took a step towards placing my hands on his belt and leaning up and whisper in his ear. “Remember our errands.” I say, using the most seductive voice I could.
