                                                              Chapter Nine

Relief floods throughout me, it was only Reed. How could I be so paranoid. The dark shadows around Reed when I first spotted him, I thought It was Trethan.

Ben’s grip around me loosens.

“Hey.” he says, in a relaxed voice.

“I’m getting a ride with Casey.” Reed says, in a loopy voice, emphasizing the words ride and Casey.

Ben lets out a laugh. I roll my eyes. We both knew that Reed is up to no good when he gets in a car with a girl.

“Alright man, don’t be stupid.” Ben says, in a way that you could tell they had been friends since forever.

Reed wiggles his eyebrows and cracks a grin. “Yeah.. Oookaaay.”

With that he turned and head back through the door.

I couldn’t make sense why any girl would want to hook up with that mess. I didn’t even know anyone in our grade named Casey, he’s probably going to end up regretting whatever he’s planning on doing.

I glance back up at Ben. “I worry about him.” I say, placing my hands on his lower arms.

He smiles softly. “We all do.”

“Let’s go inside.” I suggest.

“Alright.” he say says, as he pulls me inside.

The music was still blasting. People were even more wired as a few of Olivia’s friends were dancing on her kitchen countertop.

“Mother of god.” Ben says, as he laughs at the stupidity pouring out of the drunk partiers.

I chuckle as well and hold onto Bens bicep tighter as we walked to the living room.

I finally found Olivia, with Adley and three other guys who names id forgotten.

“There she is!” Olivia squeals as she jumps up and embraces me. I could smell the alcohol on her breath, but that was expected.

“Hey.” I say letting go of Ben

“Come sit!” Olivia says as she spins back around and lets herself fall in-between two of the guys.

Her bleach blonde hair was pulled back, but her bangs fell in her face as she moved. She cracked a smile at me urging me to sit.

I do what she suggests pulling Ben with me. We sit next to Adley.

“Hey Nellie!” Adley says, in a high pitched voice and she hugs me.

“Hi!” I respond.

Adley was more like me, she never drank at these parties, and was perfectly content on just being sober.

“Hey Ben” Adley says, as she moves a piece of auburn hair out of her eyes.

He nods at her and sits back.

I close my eyes for a moment as I feel nausea rolling in my stomach, and my headache became stronger. I needed to get in the water.

“You okay?” Adley asks, as she looks at me crooked.

I open my eyes and nod. “Yeah, just tired.”

“You want me to drive you home?” Ben asks, placing his hand on my knee.

“No it’s fine, I have my car remember?”

He nods. “Alright, but offers still out there”
