It'd been around dawn once more when the hunters woke up. One appeared to be found dead from any unknown reasons. Supposedly stress had killed the innocent man unless he decided to take his own life away before he'd gone mad. Melissa, and the men of Cameron's group plus Arabella's group followed along through the area not too far. They grew closer and closer towards the ghost town. Arabella wondered what it would've been over there, meanwhile she dragged Luke along as he continued to doze off every time they would stop to take a break. She noticed how there was a black gate that was open, one side slightly undone making it look crooked.
"Smells like history and barf in here," Chris gagged for a bit, and held in his breath for a short while. No one had understood what he talked about until Arabella finally walked through the gates. The air had changed and a repulsive feeling made her want to throw up. The place reeked of mold and dirty water, old blood stained on the concrete floors, some fresh. She then stared ahead where the old and dirty buildings lied. The floors looked unused, and the buildings looked abandoned, but just the same as it was left except for a few. Wood was snapped, weeds grew from the ground, Then there stood a quite sturdy bridge. A small river of water flowed through just ahead looking foggy as ever. It was unclear water.
Melissa explained loudly, "It's alright, most appear to be dead. Caution though, some are the infected." Everyone cringed, Arabella staring at her big brother for guidance. Cameron and Dee were speaking with each other, and all that was said clear was her own name. Luke gazed at Arabella, trying as hard as he could to get into her head again. This place looks scary, don't you think?
I couldn't agree more, Luke.
The two held each other's hands, Arabella gripping onto his tightly as they walked along. It wasn't long till mist and clouds had stumbled upon the spooky area. Now the hunters knew why this place was called The Ghost Town. It was quite scary. Just as they passed the bridge quick as possible, Cameron laid the dead body in the water. With the float of the man's limp body, he drifted away in the water quite slowly. Cameron then walked back to the group that watched him, but Luke's eyes widened, "WATCH OUT!!!"
Quite closely Arabella held her rifle and reloaded, aiming behind him. A disgusting creature came about. They belong in the waters of the dead town. She was nearly sickened of how horrid its color and appearance in general was. It was tall, the size of an unnatural human body with slimy, wet skin that was pale. Arabella looked closely for his face but then aimed slightly. Cameron then turned around to see such a thing, and almost made noises similar to a Runner.
Two. Five. Seven. It grew more and more, but then all Arabella did was shoot ten times, the first slimy mutant dying, and the loud noises causing these mysterious creatures to lose their sane once more. "Lurkers," Melissa grunted under her breath as she said, "Don't bother fighting, just run." The hunters picked up the quickened pace, heading out of the ghost town. There was still more and more just coming. The ground slightly shook as they felt the heavy footsteps of the giant monsters. They ran ran, ran. As fast as their feet could pick them. Runners came out of nowhere darting for the healthy, what was left of them. No one knows where to go, and keeping Melissa seemed like the smartest idea due to being out of place. Only she knew how to get out of here.
A man who ran beside her had just been attacked and with a piercing scream he fell silent. Another and another, this big group was diminishing. Chris was watching Arabella from behind while he was with Luke struggling to catch up. Noah was on her right side while Melissa held Isabella. Cameron stood behind, shooting along with Dee. Arabella set foot onto the territory knowing that something bad has happened in that area. They ran through and stopped their tracks noticing that many of those monsters were gone. The adrenaline rushed through their bodies with the blood flowing in their veins. Hearts beat swiftly and Arabella hadn't felt a thing but a small burn on her thigh, how she had been overworking every muscle in her body. For sure the angels beyond the sky were testing her. The surrounding looked oddly familiar where Arabella once saw it in a dream and she had to speak. "I've seen this before."
"What is it," Cameron looked at his daughter in the eyes full of wonder and mysteriousness. For he wanted to know everything of this land.
She looked around at the forest. It was more different now than what happened. Ropes lie on the floor, wood broken to pieces in the middle. Grass was growing through the ground, and in the air, Arabella swore she heard the whispers of someone, or people. She turned right around and her faint expression made her lips slightly frown and she glared at Chris, "Did you say something?"Piracy wasn't our choice.
We've been executed for hundreds of years.
Is this the Nephilim?
No, hunters they call them. Aye I've seen them before.Accents lied just about everywhere. The whispers in the wind continued to flow and soon enough, Chris freaked out, "What the hell was that?"
"I've heard that this is where execution happened when people were punished," Arabella explained, "And I fear that these people are probably dead. Speaking to us."
The boys looked at her crazily, and Max only believed that it'd been true as he stepped up from the crowd of men, "I believe it." He flashed a small smile and turned around speaking to people about it. "I've seen it in my dreams too. They'd hang people with a noose. And that's a rope people used to kill either themselves or other people."
Luke looked back and Noah stared in disgust. The only amused person there seemed to be Dalton. He was quite fascinated by the stories he's heard. But one of the voices said to leave at once. The men and two ladies wandered North. Arabella walked up front with Dalton as he asked so many questions about history before the now. "What happened back then?"
"Well you see.. back then, France and Britain have been enemies since," Arabella began.
"What are you looking at," Max asked Luke as he gazed over at Arabella who seemed to be enjoying her time walking while holding the gift Amber had given her--- Isabella. Soon Max began to snap his fingers in front of Luke, but looked where he had been gazing at, "Oh. That's what you're staring at."
Quickly Luke shook his head after getting all the nonsense out of his system, "Yes, I'm fine."
Melissa stood beside the two boys, "You know, the palace is not far now, we're so close."
Hour by hour Arabella grew more and more tired. Dalton noticed how she'd been feeling uneasy, "Are you doing alright?" Arabella only insisted that she was going to be alright. The blue rims around her eyes were showing but it looked just as bright this time as she furrowed her eyebrows. Soon enough.
