Trigger warning ahead
-*-
The bell rings and I made my way to my Chemistry class where today we're having an experiment, which should be fun, I think?I waved goodbye to my two best friends when we reached the lab, Mia and Halsey are off to Maths and I entered the class. I slouched my book bag in my usual seat and watch as students file in the moth ball smell laboratory.
The teacher, as always, looking very exhausted and tired, sat in his seat in front of the class and I looked at the side of his desk where a trolley of things sat. He stood up and eyed the class. I sighed at the same thing he does every week, trying to catch students on their phones since it's our senior year.
He then started explaining what we're going to do today and thankfully, it's not a partner work.

As I was putting the whatever the chemical substance name into the flask, a gentle knock was on the door and all heads snap up. We usually work in silence, I looked out the little glass on the door to see who it was but from this position, it's hopeless.A boy walked in, green eyes, black hair, skinny jeans and wearing a Green Day shirt. I smiled to myself since it's my favourite band.
"New student?" the teacher asked and he nodded. "Introduce yourself." he motioned to us and I put down the little beaker that was filled with carbon dioxide powder. I took off the goggles for a better look.
"Uh, hi, my name is Kendrick Hudson from Doncaster. You guys can call me Ken." he introduced and I rolled my eyes, a newbie in senior year. I went back to working with making the combining the chemicals.
"Right Ken, you can sit beside Morgan over there." I dropped the tongs that I was holding. Did I hear him wrong? Beside me? He knew that I don't like socializing, especially with a total stranger.
He walked to the seat beside me which was the only empty seat left. I rolled my eyes and sighed internally.
"Hey." he greeted and I smiled. Good, now I have a seat mate. What else? Food falling from the sky? I wish. Life couldn't get any crappier.
I snorted when I saw him frowning. "Morgan Ludshey. I like Green Day too. Honestly, I'm lacking of social skills so please bear with the awkwardness lingering in the air." I said and he smiled. "I like your eyes." he commented, my eyebrows shot up.
"Are you kidding me? They look like water!" I laughed and I looked at his jade green eyes instead. "You have nice eyes." His smile widen and my heart felt weird. Like it just skipped a beat which it hasn't done that in ages.
"You're not awkward at all!" he said and I shook my head, smiling.

The bell rings, marking lunch time and the students file out the class immediately. I shoved my notebook into my bag and walked out of the laboratory with the teacher reminding us to do researches about nitrogen.I felt a gesture on my shoulder and quickly turned, I flinched. "Sorry, didn't mean to make you flinch." Ken said and my heart beat calmed.
He walked with me to my locker, I put back my Chemistry stuff and we went to the cafeteria. Crimson, a friend from my youth, link her arm with mine when she caught up with me. Ken has gone somewhere without me noticing and I frowned at how fast he disappeared.
"Cafeteria crowded today, Mia and Halsey have to finish the test first." she informed and I smiled at how cheery she is. Only I wish I could be as cheery.
We got our food and sat down at the table. "Crap." Crimson muttered. "What?" I asked, mouth full of sandwich. "I have to meet Miss Marple. I'll see you around!" She shoved the remaining brownie in her mouth and ran out the cafeteria. I sighed but felt relieved, I don't have to eat with manners since I'm eating alone.
I looked everywhere around the cafeteria and most people are sitting with their friends, I sighed. They look so happy, so into living and I just felt like dying. Metaphorically and literally. I fidgeted with the sleeves of my sweater and my mind wandered to many thoughts.
When a thought turns into many, there's no finish line. I did try to get my mind stop chiming by doing all kinds of treatments and remedies but none of them worked. I'm just so suicidal. I'm not even sure why or how I turned into one but I'm sure it started from the mad house I'm living in.
I rubbed my sleeve blank-mindedly, mind filled with thoughts and memories of things that has happened. Nasty things.
Family conflict is a thing that seems so unimportant but it affects you so bad. It's my parents' cold war, why am I included? Right, because they throw things at each other and kept me and Thomas up all night.
I have seen people with their family so many times and that many times are them in a good mood to share. I hate people like that. Why the heck are you so happy? Don't they feel sad or something?
"Earth to Morgan!" shouted Mia, her fingers snapping in front of my face and I was pulled away from my thoughts.
"Oh, hey." I wiped the tears that were brimming with the end of my sweater sleeve. It's like so hot outside but Blackpool is a windy place, sweaters don't kill.
"What's wrong?" Halsey asked, she scooted nearer and I gave her a faux smile. "Nothing. I'm good." I lied and as my best friends, they knew I was lying.
"Heard that for the billionth time. Come on, I don't want to see my best friend go all sad panda. Cheer up!" Mia tutted and I chuckled. "Heard of Zayn's departure?" Halsey started and Mia screeched.
"Don't you fucking start, Halsey Green." she said and I laughed. "There's a new kid in my class." I spoke and they stopped bickering.
"Who? What's the name?" I chuckled at Mia's excitement, Halsey looked so done.
"Kendrick Hudson."
