Chapter 38: The Search

Levi P.O.V

We searched for hours on top of hours. Looking at every possible place she could be.

I rubbed my temples in frustration and concern.

We wasn't getting anywhere with this!  There was no trace, no note, nothing.

"Levi I think she might be-" Ewrin started.

"Don't you say that!" I hissed looking at him straight in the eye. He only nodded before looking away.

I sighed quietly striving to know where Mikasa was.

Where my family was. Whether they was alright or not. If anyone was hurt.

I have to find them! I won't stop no matter what. I thought with a determined expression.

We walked down an abandoned alley, slowly and quietly.

Hanji P.O.V

I became more and more worried about Ewrin as time passed by.

Zoe was sound asleep in her crib, taking soft breaths.I kissed her forehead before walking in the kitchen.

I decided to check on him and see how everything was going.

The phone dialed for at least five minutes.

He always takes forever to answer his phone. I chuckled at the thought.

He finally answered but in a quiet voice.

"Hey Ewrin." I said softly.

"Hey Hanji. What's up?" He whispered quietly.

"I just wanted to check on you and see how things are." I replied.

"Well...um things are pretty good I guess you kind of called at the wrong time." He said slowly.

"Why is this the wrong time?" I asked quickly instantly becoming worried.

"It's nothing sweetie. We're just walking through an abandoned alley but-"

"You're what?!"

"Hanji please calm dow-"

"How can I? An abandoned alley?!" I shrieked.

Ewrin sighed quietly over the phone.

An alley of all places...an alley.

"Hanji I'll call you back okay?" He said softly.

Ewrin P.O.V

I pinched my nose gently as I waited for her answer.

"Yeah ok. Just be careful ok?" She replied.

"I will. I love you."

"I love y-"

There was loud crash on the other end.

"Hanji?! Are you okay?! What's going on?!" I asked loudly.

Levi tried to shush me but I kept on asking that soon lead to me panicking.

"EWRIN!-NO GET AWAY FROM ME-" then the phone hung up.
