Lockey's POV

He still looked exactly the same as he did the last time I saw him. His naturally curly blond hair which I had inherited from him hung loosely above his left eye just like I remembered but now with sparsely spaced specks of grey. His hard features still as solid as a brick, never letting up on the frown that seem to be permanently embedded on his face. His cold slate grey eyes, still as intense as before, never letting up on the deadly glare that they seem to possess. His cold and unyielding aura always commanding respect and perfection of those around him.

"Dad..."

"...surprised to see me?"

I suddenly became infuriated by how nonchalant he seemed at this exact moment acting as if we'd known other for so long and had suddenly became best buds. "What are you doing back here , huh? What hell could have possibly given you the guts to show your ugly ass back here?!"

"Look Lockey... I-I just wanted to talk things out with you and explain why I'd lef-"

"Well when you left you did all the explaining you needed to do so, there's really no need to make up any of your silly excuses 'cause I got the message perfectly after hmm...14 years?" I snarled at him about to slam the door shut on the pathetic excuse I called a father. First, my step-dad and now him. How much could one guy take? He quickly put his foot out, preventing me from fully closing the door.

"Please Lockey... 5 minutes that's all I ask for and after that you can do whatever you want just......please" he begged, looking more pitiful than a puppy in the rain. Having a little bit of mercy on him, I begrudgingly opened the door wider, signalling his unwelcomed entrance. Mumbling a quick 'thank you' he scuttled himself in as I slammed the door shut behind him.

"Five minutes..that's all you got so make it quick. I don't know when 'he' will be back." I grunted out loud for him to hear before making my way towards the kitchen. Grabbing a bottle of ice cold water from the barren fridge, I casually leaned against the marble island, silently sipping away at my cold beverage while waiting for him to say whatever the hell he wanted to say.

"What happened to your face?" he whispered reaching out towards my cheek. I quickly took a step to the side to avoid his touch.

"You really think that you can come back here after 14 years of not giving a shit and act like you actually care about me? Where the fuck were you when mom died, huh? Too busy living it up to even see if your son was okay, that's where. So save me your bullshit and just tell me what you came here to say. Then I can go back to my shitty life and pretend this never happened." He visibly flinched as I finished my rant.

Squaring his shoulders, he took a deep breath. "Lockey, did you ever wonder why your step-dad moved in so quickly after I left? Didn't it seem strange to you? Was your mom ever sad that I was gone?" he asked. His words took my breath away. I had never given it a thought. John had just stepped in to take dad's place. To my four year old self, he was a hero. moving in to take care of us after he left.i had never questioned it.
