Sitting on a school desk was a boy with dark locks falling over drooping dark blue eyes, tanned olive skinned arms covered the entirety of the table under a plain black shirt. Scars littered his arms and single scar went through his eyebrow nearly at the end of it, and on his neck peeking under the collar of his shirt was a tattoo like curve. All around him were a couple of students boys and girls alike each coming from different ethnic backgrounds.

"Lance Nemesis do you know the ingredients needed to create a sleeping powder?" the professor asked brow raised, lips pouted in annoyance. Lance who had rested his head in his arms lifted it, the top right of his hair was fluffed and tips slightly crumpled.

" A dry hidlard flower and mil nectar," Lance responded his voice sounding slightly husked from sleep before yawning. Professor Hemera gave Lance a begrudge look before turning back towards the white board and continuing on with the lesson.

Feeling much more awake he sat one hand holding his head lost in thought. The winter months were sweet and peaceful in California. With the stinging cold after a regular day's training was refreshing. He felt a pang in his chest, he hadn't been home for months. Deciding it was best not to dwell he let his mind wonder. Another thought kept bothering him as well today his father's second in command Abram Ouranos a russian 24 year old who didn't seem to like Lance much had summoned him back to the California Sanctuary which he was discretely been going back to from a portal there in the Night Hunter homeland Scorlis which had been named after the founder, to the California Sanctuary.

From a distance a large bell sounded signaling the end of class. Lance grabbed his notebook and slipped his pen into his pocket before squeezing out the door through the rush of students leaving. The hall walls and roof were a sleek midnight with silver stars, the floor a dark grey. Walking past hundreds of hunters in the wide corridor Lance walked out of Starslend Academia to the city through winding streets headed into the heart, where the worlds portals lay. It was fairly crowded with people from all over the globe. In the streets were horses pulling carriages each with a family crest.

Arriving at the heart of the city of Taurus was a large circular globe surrounding it were four tall ivory obelisks. At the door which was about 8 feet tall and 4 feet wide, had pure black crystal horns just above the door. Slipping into the large ivory building out of the cloudy outdoors Lance found himself inside a familiar gigantic dark room filled with purple portals projected out of powerful runes carved into the walls with portals all the way to the top with different sectioned landings. People surged in and out. In the center were multiple elevators that shot onto each floor. Heading straight into a fairly empty elevator Lance clicked the button for the mid floor. In seconds they shot onto different floors until finally reaching his destination he walked out of the landing running a hand through his hair walking to California's main hub sanctuary's portal. Walking in he disappeared in a flash of violet.

A 15 year old girl with ray band styled glasses over copper brown eyes and curly chestnut hair tips dyed blue stood outside of a house. Its roof a dark red and outer walls a dull yellow the porch in which she stood was oak. She carried a gym bag. A boy about a year or 2 older stood besides her, his hair the same color with a wind blown look but his eyes a dark oak brown, he carried a gym bag as well standing next to an older women in a suit who was knocking the door her hair in a neat bun blue eyes glowed brightly against the porch light. The pine door opened to reveal a man in his mid 30s dark brown hair that was going in all directions as if he had just rolled out of bed he had on a black robe and slippers his face was full of stubble .

"Mr. Gilmer?" The social worker asked. The man rubbed his eyes and gave a raspy "Yes."

"Hello well i'm Mrs. Lillian Christoph and Jessica Moore's social worker I believe we spoke this morning based on their placement here I know it is quite late but there was a delay on their arrival."

"That's fine," The man grunted out before clearing his throat and repeating it his green eyes examining the children. Jessica in a thin sweater despite the cold weather with a black T shirt and sweats, Christoph in a white sweater black graphic T shirt with a teal dragon and jeans.

"Well I'll leave them in your hands i'll be visiting to see how their adjusting," The Social worker finished hugging Christoph who gladly returned it and attempted to hug Jessica who only partially hugged her back but moved away. Mr. Gilmer opened the door wider to let the teens through.

"So how long have you two been in the system," He asked to none of them specifically. Jessica stayed silent only observing her surroundings in attempt to guess what sort of treatment her brother and herself may get in this home.

"Six years," Christoph answered politely. 'As always the nice one' Jessica mentally scoffed rolling her eyes.

"That's a long time," Mr.Gilmer mused. As he lead them up the steps to the second floor their steps making loud creaks.

"It sure is sir," Christoph replied.

"Don't call me sir just call me Jack sir makes me feel old," Jack said smiling to the teens as he swung open a door. The room was small the walls painted a light blue with a bed with Black pillows and thick brown covers, besides it a small desk with a lamp, a window was at far right and had a hardwood floor.

"Christoph this will be your room and Jessica yours will be right besides this one," Jack said before yawning.

"Thank you," Christoph said before walking in the room and closing the door. Jessica stayed silent and only nodded to let Jack know she understood before following him to the room besides it. He swung it open to reveal a mahogany walled room its floor the same as the one besides it and with a red covered bed and a small desk with a lamp at the end of the room was a large window letting in the silver glow of the moon.

"Just ask if you need anything we already signed you up for school you guys can start in two days," Jack said before leaving walking to the end of the hallway and disappearing behind a thick brown door with a loud click. Jessica shrugged off her bag with all her belongings and searching the room for anything strange. Finding nothing she locked the door and silently slipped into the bed.
