Lance headed to the medical department of the Sanctuary. After years of memorizing the entire building getting to the right hall was easy. He quickened his pace and almost ran over the person he was trying to get. He could hear Castor’s heart race and his breath catch at the sight of him.
“Cas could you come with me,”Lance said turning back heading down the hall towards where he knew Jessica was. He didn't even bother to check Castor was behind him. He could hear Castors sneakers squeak against the smooth stone floor.
“Ye-yeah um what you need,” he stuttered out.
“I accidently flipped Jessica and she may have a concussion,” Lance replied. He hurried his pace taking long strides to the hall Jessica was in.
“Any reason why you flipped her,”Castor asked curiously. Lance brushed the question off as they made a turn onto the hall he had left Jessica in.
She was on the floor her back leaning against the wall. She looked exhausted staring up at the ceiling. He stopped abruptly letting Castor go in front of him and go treat Jessica. The color seemed drained from her caramel skin and her chestnut locks were damp with sweat. Her hazel eyes seemed to focus and unfocus.
He felt an inner pull within his mind. Taking out his Viris he scribbled on 2 parallel diagonal lines onto his palm feeling the familiar burn a finished mark brought.
“What is it?” Lance said leaving castor and Jessica in the hall.
“Jacob Moros hasn't contacted me today,” Marclin replied like an echo inside his mind.
“Ill head down there right now.”
“We don't know if he needs back up no give it a day,” she said. Lance sighed in annoyance.
“Fine.”
He broke the connection immediately not bothering to hear what else Marclin had to say.
“Lance!”
Lance ran back into the hall to find Castor trying to lift up Jessica. His stick like arms kept dropping her as she muttered curses. Lance couldn’t help but smile trying his best not to laugh. He took long strides and caught Jessica as Castor dropped her once again. She seemed unfocused and unsure who held her.
“I got her. Just what's up with her,” Lance said slipping one arm underneath her arms and another underneath her legs. Castor took a step away untangling himself from her and lead the way to the medical department.
“She has a severe concussion. She's taken some bad hits. I don't suppose that was all you?”
“No she's fallen or hit her head multiple times today.”
“Well she just needs some healing herbs. Keep an eye on her she can't slip into unconsciousness or I won't know the effects it may have onto her cerebral cortex.”
Lance stayed silent taking quick steps passing Castor making sure to not jostle Jessica around like a ball on a rubber band. He could see her eyes slipping closed and sprinted to the bright white door. The room was painted a forest green with rows of beds and curtains. Some patients slept in beds with harsh injuries of broken bones to melted flesh. Running to an empty bed he placed Jessica onto it as her eyes closed. He patted her face to wake her until her copper eyes exploded open.
“Keep her awake while I get some herbs ,” Castor said before running to a counter Lance had forgotten was next to every bed with medical supplies. Jessica whined besides him as he focused on her half conscious state.
“Move away.”
Lance stepped out and headed out of the room. He walked through the halls onto the main dome. Lycan sat on a desk chair moving in circles. He slipped out his pen and flicked it at Lycan scoring the top of his ruffled head.
