(Felicity's POV)
I walked through the woods outside the city of Tokyo. The sunlight flooded through the small openings in between the leaves. The August air filled my lungs.
I slowed down when I reached my destination. A small cherry blossom tree. A small rose bush grew underneath. A small pond sat to the right of it, lily pads and lotus blossoms gently floating on top.
I walked over to the water's edge. I sat down gently.
"Hello again..." I whispered to the pond.
"It's that day again..." I smiled slightly.
"August 18..." I chuckled slightly at my delusional talking to a pond.
I grabbed out a small pocket knife, setting it on my lap. I used all my energy to send the magic within me to my left wrist. It started to turn purplish black.
I sighed remembering what Mom told me before she died...
《Flashback》
I sat at the edge of a lake. My mom held a knife in one hand and my wrist in another.
"Okay sweetie, it's simple." Mom said to me. "Just try to send all your magic to your wrist, like you're gonna cast a spell, but you're not."
"B-but Mommy... Won't this hurt...?" My four year old self asked.
"A little, but it'll be okay." She smiled at me. I did what she said, my wrist darkening in color.
"Good, now for the hard part..." Mom sighed, placing the knife on my whist.
She dug down a little and dragged it across my tiny wrist. I yelped in pain. She held my wrist over the water. Blood dripped out, a dark ink-like color. It fell to the water, acting like food dye. As more and more blood left my wrist, it lightened in color. The blood that flowed from my wrist soon turned red, and Mom wrapped my wrist in medical wrap.
"Now Felicity, do this every year on your birthday, okay?" She smiled at me.
"Yes Mommy." I smiled back.
《End of Flashback》
Mom died not a year later. I don't miss her, hell I barely even remember what she looks like.
I sliced open my wrist, watching the blackish blood pour out. I wrapped my wrist up once it turned red.
Now, you might be wondering WHY I was doing this. Well, you see, I'm ridding myself of dark, unwanted magic. Not the most sane way of doing it, but hey, it works.
"Happy birthday..." I whispered to myself. I stood up and started to walk back home. Back to the city of Tokyo.
