-Sky's POV
"Let's take this to the next level guys." Everyone looked at me. "How so?" Mitch asked. "I want a go with the archery, and a dance with Rob. This'll be fun." "That's a next level."
"Rob, I love you, but you hurt anyone, and you're in deep trouble." Preston told Rob. "Same for you, Sky. Anyone, and you're in trouble with me." "I am wounded, Preston. You have no faith in either of us. No one will get hurt." He smirked. "Fine. Have fun you two."
I waved my hand, and my sword appeared. Diamond, with a gold/ budder inlay of spirals throughout the blade. A dagger also appeared, gold/ budder, with an iron spiral design. I love my spirals. I step into the ring with Rob slowly and precisely. I carefully remove my sunglasses, and set them aside. I know I've confused everyone, because they all know I can't see without my sunglasses.
But I can detect movement quicker without my sight. Hearing, and energy are key in sword fights. I listen for Rob's movement, and track his energy. He strikes silently, and I pull my body away from his blade, checking it. I wrap around him, and our blades meet midair. They clash, and Preston cries out.
I pull away, and slip to the edge of the ring. Rob follows, strategically silent, and swipes his blade again. I duck under it, and put Rob in check. He's cornered, with one way out. Past me. He decides to take the offense, and strike again.
I disarm him easily, and his sword skitters away. "Checkmate Rob. You lose." "You cheated." "How?" "You have your creepy energy thing."
"I didn't use it. I listened." I truly hadn't used it. It was there, but I paid no attention to it. "Fine. You win. Can I get out of the corner now?" I moved so he could get out, and I grabbed my sunglasses again. Rob picked up his sword.
I moved my wrist, and my sword disappeared. The dagger stayed just in case. I summoned my bow, and one arrow. The infinity enchantment was useful. Preston grabbed his enchanted bow, and Vikk grabbed Mitch's with permission. All three of us fired ten quick shots, and counted out points. Preston in the lead with 89, me with 88, and Vikk with 86. Close game, but we weren't finished then and there.
We fired 3 aimed shots each, and two rapid fire. The aimed shots were all bullseyes, a solid 30 points each. What mattered were the two rapid fire shots. Points were counted, and Preston and I tied. Both of us ended with a solid 50 points. All bullseyes. Vikk managed to miss the last arrow's bullseye by a centimeter, getting 49 points. I gave, too tired to continue with the challenge.
But my give, apparently sparked an idea for Brandon. He leaped in my path. "I challenge you." "To what?" "A footrace. My only rule. You don't use any magic or anything like that. So that means no teleporting. A legit, straight up footrace, Sky."
In a heartbeat, I knew I'd lose. Brandon bounded up the steps to the main hall in less than 5 seconds. Mitch smiled. "And Pete?" "Yah?" "Pure footrace. No leaping and bounding. Pure running." "Fudge." I heard him mutter.
"Pinned him there, Mitch. Thanks." "No problem. I've watched you both run, just pure running, and I could beat you both running while I'm sprinting. You both suck." "I know. That's why I thought I was screwed when he bounded up the steps." "Yup. You would've been, had I not intervened."
Everyone climbed the steps to the main hall. Brandon bounced himself out, and got ready to run. Mitch set the track. The rim of the main hall 3 times, and no shortcuts. "Go!" We ran, and I knew it'd be tough. The main hall is huge, and neither of us are fast runners.
But Brandon cheated, and I stopped. Mitch caught it too. "Pete! You're out." "Dang it. I didn't mean to! It's so natural. I do that normally." "Well, you said no to Sky's advantage, so I'm saying no to your advantage." "But-" "We established this. No bounding or leaping. You just bounced off the wall, Pete."
"Sorry. Sky wins." "Okay... How bout we get everyone in a footrace?" "I'll do it." Mitch said. "It's worth a shot!" Vikk chirped happily.
"Rob and I will give it a go." Preston called. "Ah. Why not." Brice said. Seto held up his palms. "I don't run." "Count me out too." Mat called. "I'm gonna beat all of you boys." Kara stated confidently. "Nope. Not running." Jerome said. "Me neither." Lachlan declined.
They all kneeled down to run, and Kara bounced on the balls of her feet. I yelled, "Go!" And Kara was gone. So was Mitch. A minute later, Kara tumbled into me, taking us both out. And Mitch reappeared from the blur mode too. He crumbled and frowned.
"Who the fuck won?! I just got bowled over by a blur." Mitch pouts for a split second, and his head dips. "Kara won... By a whole foot." "Yeah boys! I'm too fast for you!" I looked back over the marked track, and saw Vikk near the front door, wincing painfully on the floor against the wall with Lachlan next to him.
I walked over. "Bad idea much?" "Much idea, many bad, Sky." Vikk recited. He bent out his left knee, and ran his fingers against the muscles. I helped Lachlan to his feet, and Lachlan lifted Vikk., carrying him back.
Rob was smiling, not even out of breath. Preston didn't look tired either. Brice was a little out of breath, and Pete had run again, looking exhausted at this point. But all attention turned from the exhaustion, and was pinpointed on Mat. He'd collapsed in front of us.

-Mat's POV-
My lungs suddenly burned, and I couldn't breathe. My suit locked up, and I passed out from suffocation. I came around to the light of my suit's interior. The red lights blinked slowly, signaling something was desperately wrong. Something has stopped working.
My eyes focused, and the mech eyes also focused. Sky stood above me, looking concerned. Pete was at my left, very concerned for me. Then the alarm came on inside the suit. I knew Pete and Kara had trained their ears for it, so they both reacted instantly.
"Something's wrong! Sky!" "What?! What's wrong?!" "I don't know. The suit's alarm is going off! It must be bad. We have to get to the city!" "What?! If you go in the city you'll be killed!" "I've done it before! So has Kara! We have to go NOW!" "Okay!"
Pete helped Sky lift me, and he teleported to the city. The alarm was deafening, but I focused on the voices around me. They pulled me into the blacksmith's. The home of our friend Kenny. He rushed over, and took me from Sky. Pete was freaking out, but Kenny called to him over his shoulder, "Settle down Petey. He'll be fine. Sit down and relax."
Kenny set me on the table, and did a thorough once over before finding the issue. He took the latch for my suit, flicked it, and the suit fell apart around me. My helmet come off as well, exposing my eyes to sunlight, which I hadn't directly seen since the last refitting for my suit. Which was 2 years ago. The light hurt my eyes, and I blinked several times before I could see.
Sky watched quietly as Kenny worked, and he focused greatly on my chestpiece. The one thing keeping me alive. He quickly connected me to his immobile blood pump, so I would live while he worked. It consisted of a needle going straight to my chest, pumping blood out, through a machine, and back through another needle, also in my chest. My chestpiece did that, but it stopped working for some reason today.
If no one had acted as quick as they did, I'd be dead in minutes. Kenny tinkered with the piece, and tampered a bit with the wiring. I felt weak, and super light like a feather. It didn't hurt, but it felt awkward, not used to being so light for this long. The suit's almost double my weight of 60 pounds, so I carry an extra 40 pounds, making me exactly 100 pounds without being legitimately overweight. I'm actually very underweight.
"The cold has made the chestpiece's machinery malfunction, and the heat just burned it out. Mathew, you can't do that. Keep a balance. I've told you this before. You could've died. Do you want to die?" I shook my head. "Then stop burning the mechanism out. The cold you can't stop, it'll freeze regardless, but don't burn it out again, or you'll regret it greatly." "Sorry Kenny..."
"It's fine, just stop doing that to yourself. It'll kill you one of these days." He reassembled the suit around me, and adjusted it since I was here already. I'd gotten thinner, so he readjusted the chestpiece to be smaller, so it would fit to me correctly. "If you thin out any more, I'll have to remove metal, and that's not an option. Eat, Mathew. I can't remove any more metal than I already have. And that was too much."
"I'll have to take my helmet off, and to do that, I'll have to disassemble the whole suit, and probably die. So I can't, Kenny. Give me a legitimate way." "I thought you'd figured this out. Give me your hand Mat." I put my hand in front of me. He took it, and put it against the back of my helmet. "Feel that button under your finger?" "Yeah?" "Press it."
I did, and my helmet opened up, and folded into the back of the suit. The base in the back stayed up, so I couldn't loll my head, but it was enough. "Okay... Thank you Kenny." "No problemo, Mat. Anything for you. Just stop burning out your pump. Keep a balanced temperature." "Okay! I'll see you... When I need it. Or just because. Bye!"
He waved as we teleported back. Getting there, I saw new people I'd never met. One looked agitated, and distracted. The other looked calm and collected. The first was younger, by a few years. But he also looked different. He had blank white eyes, and black rib shaped bones across his head and back.
The bones ended in a spine shape in the center of his back, and a small, black, bony tail came off of that. His hair was spread around the bones, so it didn't interfere. His hair was a sandy tan color, and it stuck up in the front like Mitch's. He wore a blue jacket in varying shades, similar pants, and a navy blue shirt underneath. He also wore a white choker with a light blue star charm around his neck.
"Mat, Brandon, meet Jason and Ian. They've been here longer than you, but they've stayed away for safety." Sky turned to them. "And why are you out?" "I need to  be outside for a while." "It's snowing! You'll freeze to death. Well, Ian will. Jason, would you like to have Ian die?" "No!" "Then let him stay inside. The cold won't kill you, because it's not your body's natural death. It's outside stimulus. Go, but don't take anyone. It's fatal for everyone but you."
Jason, the one that was younger and looked different, stepped out, and Sky body-blocked me from the freezing air. "Well, pack down, because this is gonna be longer than I expected..."
