Part 10: Goodnight Handsome

Maka pov

when I wake up I get out of bed immediately excited to see soul. When I open the door I see soul and that girl. I run to soul and jump on him and hug him tight.

"I missed you so much soul"

"heh I missed you too" soul laughs. I let go of him and look at him tears building in my eyes. I hug him again and stand up strait. I sit on the dinning room chair next to soul.

"soul... H-how did you get here? How did you make it?" I look at the girl she looks sad.. Guilty. "who's this?" I ask with a smile. But inside I feel a little jealous

"this is Melanie. She helped me get out of there."

"nice to meet you Melanie"

"hi maka" she says with a smile on her face. "dont worry I wont stay long. I already found an apartment across town. I don't have a lot of stuff so ill be able to go there tomorrow."I smile at her and nod. Soul told me about how he talked to her for awhile then the man took her out of the basement and then she poisoned him and they got out and called the police. When soul was talking about Melanie poising the guy she looked down and tears went down her face. I frowned.

"we need to tell the police your here. Both of you! They need to know what happened." I say anxious.

"n-no they will lock me away!!!!" Melanie yelled scared.

"no they wont! They will understand! We wont let them lock you up! We promise right soul?" I look towards soul, he nods.

"o-ok"

we go to the police station. They ask them some questions. They answer. They said that they got a call about a guy poisoned in his own home. That was them. They said that the case is still open because they are going to decide if they are going to charge Melanie for murder. After a week Melanie already has her own apartment, in the next state over. We are going to court for Melanie. She is scared that she will be charged.

"I-i can't go! They will arrest me and i will go to jail.!"

"no Melanie they won't! We promise! We have to go, now!" Soul says irritated. We have been trying to get her to go for a half hour.

"fine... Lets go... I'm ready." She says wiping her tears away. "I'm not going to be a cry baby anymore! I'm ok lets go". She has a strait face. We look at her wide eyed. We go to court and, she didn't get charged but she has to go to three weeks of therapy. We are happy for her, so we go out to eat. We eat at death bucks. Patty and Liz are working today so we hang out with them. They are surprised to see soul. They haven't seen him for 3 months but they already knew he was back.

"so you poisoned him? No, no way" Liz says crossing her arms.

"yes I did" Melanie says with a devilish look on her face.

"wooooaaah! Hey sis we should try something like that!" Patty says throwing her arms in the air.

"sure patty if you want to go to jail."

"yeah lets do it!" Patty yells pumping her fists in the air.

"well we should get going! We need to drop Melanie off at her house" I say with a smile. "bye guys".

"bye-bye" Liz and patty say waving.

"you ready to go home?" Soul asks

"yeah, I am. Thank you guys for everything!"

"no problem!" Me and soul say

"bye maka, bye soul thank you for everything! I'm so grateful!" Melanie says hugging maka and me.

"your welcome! Its been really nice having you here with us!" Maka says

"I dont know If I can ever repay you! You saved my life!"

"awe it was nothing!" Me and maka say

"well ill see you guys later"

when we are done saying our goodbyes we are on the bus. We are on a mission. We have to kill a kishin. He seemed easy enough that we wouldn't die in the process, like the last time. We are going to take a few days off before we hunt him. So we can just relax in town a bit. It seemed fun. I plan on going to dinner with maka. Maybe making my move, if I have the courage. God, I love her.

"soul. Look we're here" I look out the window. Its Las Vegas. This is where the kishin is. He is killing young children. I can't wait to kill him, I can't wait to get off this bus. We have been on this bus for hours! I'm getting sick of listening to the same songs on my iPod over and over again.

"yeah look at all those lights, looks beautiful! Reminds me of your eyes" I smile at her with a toothy grin. She looks at me and blushes. She turns away and clears her throat still blushing.

"um. Yeah so what hotel do you want to stay in?"

"uh idk any"

"ok," she pulls out a brochure out of her bag and points to a hotel, "how about this one?"

"sure whatever makes you happy" we get off the bus with our stuff and get to our hotel room, within 30 minutes. Its another room with only one bed, like last time. I hope it doesn't end up like last time. Sigh. I'll just try to ignore that thought.

"hey maka?" I ask from the kitchen

"yeah" maka calls from the room

"we should go out to dinner tomorrow, we don't have any food"

"ok sure, where do you wan to go?"

"eh lets figure that out tomorrow."

"ok, you ready for bed?"

"yeah I guess." I climb into bed next to maka. I look into her gleaming eyes and get hypnotized. I'm staring for awhile until maka breaks my spell.

"what?" She giggles.

"nothing" I say with a straight face.

"what?"

"I said nothing"

"why are you looking at me?"

"what is that wrong?"

"well... No but why?"

"because you just said that it wasn't wrong, so I can"maka blushes

"why do you keep doing it? Besides that you 'can' ?"

"because, I love your eyes." I smile a toothy grin.

"uh th-thank you." Maka blushes.

"well I'm going to sleep. Goodnight beautiful!" I turn the other way to go to sleep. Then I heard a slight...

"goodnight... Handsome."

I smile big. That just made my day. Ah maka, your so gorgeous! I love you.
