"Stand up straight" the instructor, hissed for the fourth time. She put her hand on the small of my back and straightened me out. I sighed as I struggled to keep the books on my head, and keep my ankles safe in the heels I was forced to wear. "You have to cooperate with me if we are going to go any where with this" she sighed. "Now I am going to demonstrate again" she said. She stood up straight, placing the books on her head. "Its just like this" she said as she began walking with ease, the books not moving at all. I mimicked her actions finally getting it. "Now, we need to work on how you dance" she said. I closed my eyes in frustration. Its like history repeated itself. We got away from captivity and dictatorship, just to place ourselves back into it. We follow a king, we whe old ball dresses, yet still have modern technology. Even far more advanced things. "Its one, two, three, one, two, three, one, two, three" she said counting out her steps. "Now grab a partner and practice this three times" She ordered. Me along with lots of other girls and boys groaned, and awkwardly looked around for a partner. As if I missed the last few minutes, when I looked up everyone was partnered up. "Genevieve, go dance with sir Samuel" She instructed. I nodded and nervously walked over to him. He tried to force a smile to lighten up the mood but he looked nervous and uneasy. I chuckled and he took my hand in his and laid his other on the small of my back. We stood at a reasonable distance, that is until the instructor forced us closer. "Okay begin" she said as the piano music played. I tried to count out my steps in my head but failed and wounded up tap dancing on his feet, as did he. We began to laugh as we looked down at our feet, stepping on each others. When I looked up, I was met with his beautiful smile. My smile died down and my cheeks flushed as I realized just how close we were. "Sorry" he muttered, pushing himself back. "Its okay" I replied. "Samuel and Genevieve pay attention!" She yelled. We stood there trying to hold our laughs, we both started to laugh in her face unfortunately. "That's it! Both of you, outside now" she demanded. We walked outside chuckling, but bursting into fits as we got out of sight. "Oh God, I've never seen her so mad" he exclaimed. "Me either, she's always so collected" I laughed. It got quiet and he introduced himself. "I'm Samuel Wilkinson, you can call me Sam" he smiled putting his hand out, "I'm Genevieve, but you can call my Genny or Genie" I said shaking his hand. "Well, Genny wanna get out of here?" he asked as we were seated in the hallway.
I looked both ways and then back at him. "Hell yeah" I said as we stood up quickly and walked towards the door. "Hey! Where are you two going?" The instructor yelled in the halls. We started running, my heels making a loud noise, versus the pitter patter of his feet. "Hurry!" He laughed as we made a run towards the woods. The instructors calls became more and more faint as we ran further away. "Oh my god" he breathed in pants as we neared a lake. "That was so funny" I laughed. "I am gonna be in so much trouble" I laughed "Same here" he chuckled.
A comfortable moment of silence crept up on us as we looked at the water, the sun reflecting perfectly off of it.
"How old are you?" Samuel asked "I am seventeen, I'll be eighteen in a few weeks" I informed. He nodded, solemnly. "I'm nineteen" he countered. "What do you take these classes for?" He asked, I tensed at his words. "I have to go to Prince Jack's stupid ball" I said rolling my eyes, making sure to emphasize stupid. "Shh! Are you crazy?" He started "If anyone heard you speak of King Quincy's son like that, they'll have your head" he warned. I've heard it all before, and I did not care. "I'm tired of everyone being so afraid of the king and his family, there are nothing but mere humans" I growled. Sam shook his head, "I've heard otherwise" he began, I turned my head towards him in confusion, "What?" I asked as he smirked. "Tell me!" I begged. "You really wanna know" he mocked. "Yes!" I said in an annoyed yet playful manner. "Okay" he paused, taking a dramatic one at that, the continued. "I heard his family, isn't human at all. Like, that there aren't vampires, wolves or even zombies" I almost laughed at him. "What could be worse?" I smirked at him, his face stayed serious. "Demons" he said bluntly. "You're ridiculous, if you believe that" I laughed. "No really Genny, think about it. Who can defeat the worlds most dangerous, ferocious, and strongest warriors, known to man to claim the world as their own?" He said, it made a little sense but I still wasn't buying it. "Sam you are mad, no one on earth can be a demon" I chuckled. "Well how about this" he continued. "People who have met him say his skin was incredibly warm, hot even. He is immensely strong. People have gone into the palace walls and never returned, the prince is a savage. A savage that sadly, everyone wants to be with" he explained, my attitude increased after he said that. "Not everyone wants to be with him. He is vile and arrogant, I would rather die a million deaths than have him by my side for the rest of my life Sam" I explained. "Well, I am glad you aren't like the other girls, you're smart. You still have morals. Every other girl I know throws themselves at him at fantasies about being with him. Not for the love, but for the sex, the money, the glamour. You, you are special" he finished. I smiled at his kind words. "If you are trying to say I'm not slutty, thank you" I joked. He laughed with me as we continued to talk more about life. I enjoyed his company, I never really had any make companions or friends. Except for one, Joey.
