Several guards followed me as I made my way through the castle, of course under Jack's strict orders.
They stopped as I did, sighing slightly.
"I need to go to the restroom, I'm sure you aren't going to follow me in are you?" I asked, they looked at each other and took a step back.
I went into the large restroom, looking at myself in the mirror. The sleepless bags under my eyes, the poor coloration of my skin.
I just need to leave.
I walked out of the bathroom, not a guard in sight, just Jack and a rose.
"I'm sorry, I seem to have lost my temper back there" he spoke, I looked in confusion and slowly took the Rose.
"Care to join me for a walk?"
I nodded and walked alongside him. My mind flaring with questions but the last time I spoke up, curiosity killed the cat.
"So Genevieve, tell me where you're from" Jack demanded, I nodded meekly and opened my mouth to speak.
"I'm from a small town outside of Bradford, England" I spoke shallowly, I wanted to keep my voice as light as I could. I didn't want to anger him.
"Wonderful, how was it," He continued.
"Uh, um. It was okay. I grew up in a pretty wealthy family. That's pretty much it" I deadpaned.
"Why so? Living in a wealthy family has its perks?"
"It wasn't a good life. No disrespect but it was bad because my whole life I was bred to marry you" I winced, not meaning for it to come out so harsh.
"Its okay, I understand. You never really had a choice, nor your own life to live" I looked up at him, the sun perfectly hitting his face.
The reddish-brown glow in his eye again. As we walked, it seemed to get brighter but still maroon.
"Your eyes" I started, "They seem to be crimson, like pools of blood" I commented, he chuckled and shook his head.
"Angel, tell me. A dove in a dark place, pure as ever. A crow in a holy place, cloaked in sheep's clothing. Two different things but immensely important to each other. Do you understand?"
I looked at him, puzzled. "No, not really"
"The dove and the crow needed eachother way more then they ever knew. Together they would hurt eachother, but in a conjoined way. They were all one another needed" Jack explained.
As I continued to stare, his beauty mesmerized me.
Everything about him.
"I understand, your highness. The dove and the crow, coming from two different lives. In the end, a pure spirit and a dark one balancing out. Becoming what each other needs. Completing one another, no matter how painful"
Looking at Jack now I never would've thought that he'd be the crow and I'd be the dove.
