I woke up the next day with a loud groan, for today is the day I have to go to Prince who ever the hell he is' ball. I sighed getting out my bed walking into the bathroom to remove the facial cream. I removed the wraps and lightly rubbed the material off my face, then dabbing dry. "Good morning!" Sophia cheered. I gave her a weak smile, and a small hug. "Why do you look so....gloomy?" She paused looking for the correct word. I chuckled before responding "I think you know why Sophia"
"It can't be that bad, I mean just give it a try" Sophia said, a sympathetic look on her face. "Look on the bright side, you can hang out with the kids from rehearsals?"she suggested, I chuckled but it was true. I could hang out with Sam. I smiled at the thought of it. "See! I knew it would cheer you up" she laughed. "So who are you hanging out with?" She asked, a smirk put on her face. "Uh-um I'm hanging out with um Sam" I said, turning my head two the side to avoid her playful glares. "A boy?" She asked, slowly I nodded. "How old is he? What family does he come from? Is he wealthy?" She babbled, all questions I didn't want to hear. I can't ever just be someone's friend for who they are. Their social status matters now. "Does it honestly matter Sophia? I can't simply be friends with him because I want to?" I spoke a little to harshly. "I-I'm sorry Sophia" I spoke right after. "Its fine Genie. I know how you feel about that" she said, putting a hand on my shoulder."I'll be right back u have to go meet Sammy" I said getting up and walking down the hall. "Where are you going?" My mother asked, her hair wrapped up into a towel. "To meet a friend" I said nervously, looking away from her stern gaze. "No you are most certainly not. It's too close to the dance besides I don't know him" she paused. Although my relationship with my mother wasn't very strong she always knew when something was up. Sighing, she finished "Now go shower and I'll be back with your dress" she ended with a smile. I got up off the bed with an annoyed huff and headed to the shower, the only place I can really think. I sat there humming and lathering the soap. The water cascaded over my skin, suddenly making today not so tough. I sighed once I had to get out, wrapping the towel tight around my body. Sophia was at the foot of my bed, setting my dress and my shoes down, along with accessories. "I figured you didn't want to wear one of those big dresses, so I compromised with your mom on this one. I hope you like it" she smiled. "Oh thank you Sophia" I cheered going to look at the elegant dress. "Your father bought you these earrings. He says they're his grandmothers" she explained. I smiled at the thought of him giving me these earrings, his mother was someone he never really spoke of. "I'll leave you to get dressed" Sophia said grinning. I looked at the long black dress, adoring the sheer lining and the perfect splits and sewing. It was all so nice.
I slid the dress on, twirling around looking at in in the mirror. It was beautiful. I picked up the jewelry putting on the ankle bracelet, the necklace bound with a diamond, two golden rings one on each middle finger, and finally putting the earrings my father gave me, on. I smiled in the mirror as I looked at myself. "Sophia!" I called, whilst forcing the heels on. "Yes?" She paused once she seen me, "Oh Genevieve, you look beautiful! The dress fits you perfectly" she complimented. I grinned, a blush sneaking in. "Thank you" I said. I honestly was in love with this dress. It was black, due to the theme. It was an all black ball basically. Most girls had large poofy dresses, me on the other hand I adored my skinny black dress. "Can you help me with the makeup?" I asked her as I took it out the bag. "Yes, I'd love to" she cheered. I looked at my colors, warm, smokey, and natural. The warn colors would be too different and stand out too much, the smokey look would be too much black but I liked it and the natural colors are pretty much neutral. So why not add them?"Okay, I'm using the natural colors and the smokey eye" I explained. She nodded and motioned for me to sit as I did so, she picked up the foundation, and contour. Spreading evenly over my skin and blending the contour over my high cheek bones.
She was actually better than u thought, she winged my eyeliner, and did my eyebrows. "Finished" she said, one side of her mouth inching into a smile. I looked in the mirror smiling at myself, although makeup was never really my thing I loved how I looked. It made me...perfect.
