"The beach? You bought McDonald's... and took me to the beach?" I asked, staring at the sand that we were standing on, bare foot.

"Is it not romantic enough?" Hale asked, taking a large bite out of his burger. "Beaches are always romantic."

He began to walk nearer to the sea, and I followed him whilst munching on my chips. "And why do you think that?"

"Well, I have three reasons," he looked me in the eye. "First of all, the beach is calm and relaxing-"

"Not when sand had gotten into your favourite shoes," I commented, but he ignored me and carried on talking.

"Secondly, we're eating fast food. And finally," a broad smile played on his lips, "I'm with you."

My heart swelled up and my mark tingled, making me blush, "Thank you."

"You'll get used to it. But, I'm still confused at how I could mark you when you're human?" Hale frowned in the moonlight as we walked across the sand, getting closer and closer to the ocean.

"I'm sure I've read a book about a situation like that before... A were- shifter marked a human, then found out she belonged to a wolf bloodline. Oh, her grandma was one too!" I said excitedly. I felt the cold water reach my toes and I jumped in surprise. I hate the sea.

Hale chuckled, then carried on eating his food. "I don't think you're a shifter. I can't smell you. Well, now I can; you've had my scent since we mated."

"I've known you for less than five hours and we've already mated? Is that bad?" I asked, feeling like I'd forced him to do it.

"No! In fact, it's easier. It's better to get it over and done with, the bond. Now we don't have to worry about anything," Hale smiled at me open-hearted.

"So does that mean we're soul mates?" I brushed the sand with my toe to make a straight line.

"Yes... why? Is that bad for you?" he automatically said back.

"No, no. It's... awesome."

"Excuse me?"

"Oh, sorry," I flapped my hand around like a mad woman, "I mean that it's great! I don't have to worry about love anymore. I've found it. And with a guy like you, I have a feeling that this won't be a boring relationship."

"It won't. But, I have to tell you something..."

"What?"

"I'm the Alpha of our pack. Meaning that you're their-"

"Luna," I finished off for him, a bundle of excitement filling my stomach.

"How did you know that?"

"I've told you, I read books!" I smiled the most biggest, possible smile I could.

"However, if my pack find out you're a human, they won't let you in. It's pack rules; no human mates. I couldn't help myself," Hale sighed, scratching the back of his neck, causing his dress jacket to move.

At that moment I realized that I was only wearing shorts and a plain shirt, and shivered. Next thing I knew, I had a warm, expensive, black dress jacket that looked exactly like Hale's wrapped around my shoulders. Oh, it is Hale's. I slipped my arms into it and smiled contently when I felt the warmth of it and his scent that lingered all over it.

"We could always pretend," I suggested, looking out to the sea.

"How would we do that?" A tanned hand wound it's way around my shoulder and I instantly leaned into it, wrapping my arms around Hale's waist for support. He was just in his white sleeved shirt and dress pants now. I'm actually surprised that he took his shoes off.

"Well... I could wear only your clothes, so your scent is all over me at all times. I could say that I don't like to shift. Something like that," I looked up to see that his hair had slightly fallen over his eyes and brushed it away shyly.

"We could at least try. After all, I am Alpha and I decide what happens in my pack."

"Am I in your pack?"

"You could say that. For now, we need to find a bin for these," he gestured to the McDonald's bag, "and get you somewhere safe and warm." Hale turned around, bringing me with him, and headed back for his car.

"Why was I... picked?" I asked as we were retrieving our shoes and slipping them on.

"I don't know. All that I know is that it was supposed to happen. We were supposed to meet like this."

"Oh, that's nice."

Hale smirked, "Yeah, it is."

"Hale, where are taking me? I have class tomorrow... I need to be home."

"I know," he placed his hand on my thigh and squeezed lightly, "We just have to make a quick stop."

"Where?" I asked, not recognising the street we were driving down.

"The pack house," he said casually.

"The pack house? We're not ready to go there yet! What if-"

"You can stay in the car, we'll be fine." His hand found my thigh after he changed gear, once again.

"They're smart, your kind. Aren't they?"

"Very smart. But not as smart as their Alpha," from the corner of my eye I saw a smirk appear across his face.

"I'm guessing you have a big ego," I commented, tearing my gaze away from his beautiful self.

"An even bigger one now that I've found my mate."

"Ooh, great."

"What's with that tone?" He asked, a fatherly tone starting to come in.

"What's with that tone?" I mocked, lowering my voice.

"You're such a child," he moaned, turning the corner and changing the gear as we headed onto the motorway.

"You're so elderly," I commented back, smiling.

"I'm not old!" Hale whined, turning to pout at me.

"How old are you, Hale?" I asked, remembering that I didn't know.

"I'm twenty-two, you?"

"Nineteen."

"So that means you're in your first year of college?" He asked, smiling to himself.

"Yes... Why does that make you happy?"

"I don't know. Memories, I guess," the car came to a halt and I looked around to see that we were in front of... A mansion. "We're here."

"I figured."

Stone walls surrounded the building, barbed wire wrapped around the top. The mansion itself looked beautiful - it was extraordinary.

"Who's there?" A low, rough voice came out of the speaker that was attached to the wall.

"Your Alpha. You should know this by now, Rufus," Hale looked at me and rolled his eyes, his Alpha authority kicking in.

"Yes, yes. Sorry Sir," Rufus said apologetically and after a short buzz sound was made, we were driving in.

"I can tell you're already demanding," I spoke.

"Only with my pack members. With you... You can make me do anything you want me to without having to bribe me."

"So if I asked you to make me a sandwich you would?"

"Yes..."

"Sweet."
