"Thank you... for tonight," I added on shyly, looking down at my worn out shoes and at Hale's expensive dress shoes.

"No, thank you," he lifted up my chin with his index finger, forcing me to look at him.

"Have you not realised how different we are?" I asked, still looking into his eyes.

"We may seem different in the way we were brought up. But when we're together, everything is the same. We are the same. After all, you are my mate."

"I am," I agreed, smiling. I don't know how I felt, or what was going to happen next, but when I heard those came out of Hale's mouth, it felt as if my world was complete.

"We will see each other again, Georgie," he said before bringing his lips down to mine. I accepted and helped him with the kiss, devouring his lips with my own.

"Goodnight Hale," I whispered, pulling my lips away from his and connecting our foreheads.

We stared at each other for at least two minutes before I heard a phone ring.

"Uh, sorry, two seconds."

I looked down at the caller ID to see it was a girl named Kacey. Hale grunted, hitting the accept button on his iPhone and muttering hello. Instantly, my ears vibrated.

"Hey, baby," a girly voice came from the other side of the phone.

Hale didn't expect me to hear anything as he said, "Sorry, Carl. I can't talk right now."

He looked up at me and winked, making anger rise up my throat. He was talking to another girl, and hiding it. I'm his 'mate' and he does this?

"Oh, I get it. You're with one of your clients. I'm gonna go now. See you later?" Kacey purred.

"Sure, whatever," Hale replied.

"Bye babe," And he hung up the phone.

Tears pricked at my eyes and I felt a growl leave my throat. Hale suddenly stepped back, shocked from what I'd just done.

"What's wrong?" He asked.

"What's wrong?!" I roared, making his eyes bulge out of his head. "What's wrong is the fact that you've just faked a phone call with a guy called Carl instead with some skank and thought that I would be stupid enough to fall for it? News flash for you, Hale, I'm not stupid."

And before he could get another word in, I opened the door that led into my house and slammed it right into his face.

"Georgia!" I heard him shout.

"Get off my property before I call the cops!" I shouted back, fisting the door and creating a dent in it. That must've scared Hale away, because I heard no more protests.

I turned around and took a deep breath, closed my eyes, then opened them. Imogen was standing in front of me, eyes wide open, with an empty plate in her hands. A lump of what I assumed was chinese lay on the floor, and I suppose she got caught off guard from my attack to the door.

"Imogen..."

"Why the hell did you do that to the door?" She asked with a whisper, frozen.

"I got mad... Hale, he..."

"Whoa, who's Hale?"

"The guy," I dragged on, making sure she caught on.

"You were out with him all night? Christ Georgia, I did not expect that. Tell me everything that happened."

So after twenty minutes, a tub of ice cream, and a few sniffles, I had made it half way through my story. I couldn't tell her about Hale being a shifter... But at the same time she's my best friend, I have to.

"That can't be it, what else happened? I know you to well, you wouldn't have gotten that mad over him having a girlfriend if you's had only just had sex."

"I don't know how to say it, Immy."

"Put yourself in my shoes and tell it that way," she smiled and scooped up another piece of ice cream and plopped it in her mouth.

"You know those werewolf books?" I asked quietly.

"Georgie, no, they aren't real," Imogen scolded as if I were her child.

"Not werewolves, shifters."

"Same thing," she waved me off.

"Hale is one... He told me... He showed me... I'm his mate," I said slowly, taking in all of the information myself.

"Don't joke with me, Georgia."

"I'm not joking! Look," I pulled my sleeved shirt to the side, revealing the spiral tattoo; the one that Hale has as well.

"When did you get that...?"

"I didn't. It appeared once we had had sex," I whispered, leaning forwards.

"Are you being serious?"

"Yes! You know I wouldn't lie to you Im."

"You're his mate?"

"I'm his mate," I stated.

"And he's done this to you?! That ba-"

"Ok, no need to go that far," I cussed, walking into the kitchen and making a cup of coffee for myself.

"For nineteen you drink way to much coffee, Georgie." I smiled, thanking myself for being able to change the subject. "But we still need to talk about it!"

I grunted and took a big gulp of my coffee, then sighed and looked out of the kitchen window.

"You are telling the truth, aren't you?" Immy came to my side, staring out of the window as well.

"Yes," a pang of pain entered my heart and I clenched my chest immediately, falling to the ground.

"Georgia?" Immy screeched. "What's wrong?"

I took deep breaths as my gaze was blurring. And as Kale's jacket fell off my shoulders, I realised that I wasn't hurt.

I was heart broken.

Hale's POV

"Get off me!" I shouted again, prying Kacey off me.

"But Hale," she whined, wrapping her arms around my waist, "you promised."

"I told you, I've found my mate. This was a one time thing. Now go!" I growled this time, throwing her across the room.

"This was not a one time thing! You promised my dad that you would go out with me as long as you get the money!" She growled back, standing up.

"I don't need the money anymore. I want my mate," my voice was calm as I ended the sentence.

Her eyes softened for a moment, before turning back to black, "it was an agreement, Hale. You know what happens if you break the deal."

"Yeah; I lose the money."

"No." She simply replied, "Daddy will want more than that."

Kacey smiled deviously and backed up to the door, opening it and sliding out with a murderous laugh.
