~Don't forget me, don't forget me. I wouldn't leave you if you'd let me. When you met me, when you met me, you told me you were gonna get me.~
Not much later after the Winter Ball, they get a call from Callie's doctor, telling them they have her results and they need her to come in.
They rush to the hospital as soon as possible, meeting the Quinn's there. The wait before they can see the doctor feels like an eternity and Callie spends the whole time latched to Brandon's hand.
He doesn't say anything, knowing that no matter what he says, the cancer is either still within her or she's in remission. Of course everyone is wishing for the latter.
Finally, Callie, and everyone else, are called back to an exam room by a nurse. Though the room is small, they all manage to squeeze in there. Callie sits on the bed and tries to read her nurse's expression for the outcome, but she has no such luck.
Stef wraps her arms around Callie's shoulders as a form of comfort, and Callie's hand is still attached to Brandon's and he rubs his thumb along it.
They all look expectantly at her doctor as he enters the room.
"Well, Callie," he starts, closing her file and looking at her. "You better check to make sure you still have a hairbrush because you're growing your hair back." He smiles at her. "Congratulations. You're in remission."
She breaks wide into a smile and Stef pulls Callie to her, Callie's hand ripping out of Brandon's. She gets surrounded and passed from person to person in hugs.
She finally gets to Brandon again and she wraps her arms tightly around his neck with his against her back. She buries her head in his neck, nearly weeping.
"I told you you'd get better," he whispers. She pulls away to look at him, running her hand down the side of his face.
"Thank you," she whispers back and he kisses her forehead before holding her back against him.
She is finally out of the woods.

The rest of the day is spent celebrating and smiling, really smiling, for the first time in a long time. She enjoys herself, despite the nagging voice in the back of her head telling her she won't be able to be with Brandon anymore.
No, she doesn't acknowledge that thought until that night.
She tiptoes into Brandon's room and sees he's still lying awake in bed.
"Hey," she whispers, crawling into the bed with him.
"Hey," he replies, pulling her to him. "How does it feel to be cancer-free?"
"Pretty great," she admits, then pauses a few seconds before adding, "Except for the fact that we're probably gonna be broken up tomorrow."
He doesn't say anything so she flips over in order to look at him.
"What are you thinking?" She asks him.
"I'm just happy for you," he tells her, but she can tell that's not what he was thinking.
He can see that she knows what's really going on and she holds his face in her hands. She aligns her face with his and kisses him gently, though it slowly becomes more and more passionate.
As the kisses become more heated, Brandon pulls away.
"Calle, I'm not sure-" he starts, but she cuts him off.
"Please, Brandon. If this is our last night together, I want to be with you one last time."
He complies, flipping her over on her back as his lips meet hers with another kiss.
————
She lays against his bare chest, her fingers running along his edges and his fingers running along her arm.
"I don't think I can do this, Brandon," she whispers.
"Do what?"
"Leave you. I don't think I can handle another heartbreak."
He frowns, knowing exactly what she means. It almost killed him last time and yet here he was, having let himself go through it all over again.
"At least we got some more time," she adds. "I just wish it didn't have to end."
"I wish that, too," he tells her.
She sits up to look at him. "Can you promise me something?"
He nods, wary of what it might be, but knowing he can't deny her anything.
"Promise me that you won't cut me out like you did last time. Please." She looks at him with pleading eyes. "I don't think I can go through that again."
After a few seconds hesitation, because it would be so much easier to cut her out again than try to be her brother, he finally says, "I promise."
She nods, satisfied, and reaches up to kiss him softly, only pulling away to say, "I will always love you. Never forget that."
"I'll always love you, too."
She kisses him one last time before laying her head back on his chest as she clings to this last night with him.
