Chapter 45

Liam's P.O.V.

I yawned rolling over and rubbing my eyes.

I was greeted with the bright sunlight making me squint as I looked around.

I used my elbows to help prop myself up as I looked around.

We were far away from the car. Then I remembered what had happened last night to cause this, and I looked to my right to see Reagan curled up fast asleep.

Judging by how light it was I assumed it was lunch time. As if on que my stomach growled loudly.

I chuckled standing up and stretching.

I put my arms under Reagan's legs and back then picked her up bridal style carrying her back to the car.

Her arms latched around me as I took long slow steps through our field.

"You should have let me run. Maybe if I left you wouldn't be hurt by me anymore." Reagan mumbled with a sad face.

"Maybe I don't want anyone else. Maybe I only want you." I said clenching my jaw. Her words stung at my heart.

"Well maybe I don't want you!" She spit at me.

"We both know that's a lie!" I spit back. I can't believe she is saying that.

"Do we? Do we really?" She asked coldly.

Last nights conversation played over and over in my mind.

Did she really want to leave? Run away and never come back?

Well I wouldn't let her!

My eyes watered as tears stung at them but I urged them away.

"We could just run away. Run out to where the field stretches out forever. Run to the sun." She said looking out at the horizon.

"We can't." I replied looking her her concerned. She was crazy?

"What if I do anyway?" She asked challenging me.

"I'd catch you." I said plainly clenching my jaw.

"Are you sure?" She asked raising an eyebrow.

"I'd make sure you came back home." I said in a serious tone. I don't want her to leave me.

She slowly got up facing the setting sun.

"I don't believe you." She said looking down at me.

"I can't prove it until you run." I said still sitting there. I didn't believe she would actually run.

"Watch me." she stated before turning back to face the sun.

I tensed up watching her every move.

Suddenly she darted off running away from me.

I jumped up rocketing after her.

I couldn't lose her.

She never looked back as she ran. She only ran faster.

Tears stung my eyes as I realized what was happening.

She was actually running from me. From everything. Everyone.

I only ran faster. I needed her. She was my rock.

I sensed her slowing as her legs started to give and I jumped out for her.

I wrapped my arms around her and rolled to the ground cushioning her fall.

I clenched my eyes and hissed in pain as she fell hard on my chest.
