"Hey." I say quietly.
Jc looks up quickly. He has a pink face, and tears in his eyes. As soon as be sees me, he stands up.
"Maddie, I'm so sorry." He says.
"Yea, I get you're sorry. But do you not realize you hit me? I couldn't ever imagine you ever being the one to hit me. You reminded me of Daniel." I tell him
"I know I hit you, and I'm so fucking sorry. Did I hit you hard?" He asks.
"You hit me hard enough to leave a mark jc." I say, showing him the slightly faded mark.
"I'm so sorry." He says, walking up to me. He grabs my face, turning it so he can see the bruise, and kisses my cheek. It stings a little, but not too much.
"Its Ok, just please don't do it again." I tell him.
"I won't, I promise." He replies.
"Jc, you get that argument was ridiculous, right?" I ask. He nods. "You should've just turned the volume down so I could nap. You were a complete asshole and I'm kind of disappointed in your behavior." I say. "Shit." I mumble under my breath.
"Yea I know... What's wrong?" He asks.
"Jc, I want to be a mom, that doesn't mean I want to sound like one. Like, I'm very disappointed in your behavior? God damn that's such a mom thing to say. I havent even had the baby yet." I explain.
We both laugh. I guess that was a sign that everything is Ok. But I kinda knew it was. I look up at jc and he looks down at me. I have an idea. Tears begin to fall from my eyes. (Can any of you make yourself cry? I can) I look down, then back at jc. I let the fears fall.
"Jc?" I say, my voice cracking.
"Yea? What's wrong babe? Are you Ok?" He panics.
I couldn't help but smile. "I love you." I say, pecking him on the lips. He chuckles. "We should go check up on kian and Ali." I tell him.
"Ali?" He questions.
"Yea, my friend. Lets go." I say, grabbing his hand and pulling him upstairs.
We open kians door and we see kian, cradling the baby in silence. Ali Is sitting in the computer chair. Kian looks up from the baby. He looks at us.
"Can I just say something?" Kian asks. We all nod. Kian stands up, setting the sleeping baby on the bed.
"Honestly, my life is perfect right now. I'm about to be an uncle to the child of my best friends. Somehow, they were able to talk about their problems. They're Ok which makes things even more perfect. And I've been introduced to a gorgeous woman and her eenie weenie baby. And to be honest, I think I'm in love with this little family. So, "he points at Ali. " Ali, will you go on a date with me?" He asks her.
Ali looks shocked. "Umm, I don't know." She replies.
Kian looks hurt. This is where I come in. "Why not ali?" I ask.
"I have to take care of my baby, I wouldn't want to bring her on the date." She explains.
"Hey, why can't you just leave her with us? Jc and I need some practice." I ask.
She smiles. "Ok!" I look over at kian who is smiling like crazy.
"Maddie, can I talk to your real quick?" Kian asks. I nod. He grabs my hand and walks us out of the room. He brings me into mine and jcs room.
"What's up?" I ask, kinda expecting what's about to happen.
Kian grabs me, pulling me into a hug. We sit like that for a minute, then he lets go. When I look at him I see tears in his eyes.
"Kian, are you ok?" I ask worried.
"I'm fantastic maddie. I'm just so goddamn happy. My best friend and sister just introduced me to the most beautiful girl. I'm gonna be an uncle soon. If things work I'll be a daddy too. I couldn't cry like that in front of Ali though. Shell probably think I'm weak. But I can't help it. Life is just so fucking amazing right now." He explains. I begin to get tears in my eyes.
"I love you kian." I say, pulling him into a hug. "I'm so fucking glad I met you. I wouldn't regret choosing you to walk me down the isle for anything. I love you. You're my big brother." I tell him.
We pull away and he gives me a friendly kiss on the forehead. We hug once more.
"I love you too maddie." He replies. He pulls away and we walk out of my room, back to kians room.
When we get in there, I'm surprised to see jc holding little baby becky. More tears come go my eyes. Seeing jc, a soon to be daddy, holding a little baby, warms my heart. I get butterflies in my baby filled tummy.
Jc looks up at me with teary eyes. "I'm ready to be a daddy." He says quietly.
JCS POV
Maddie and kian leave the room, leaving me and Ali to sit awkwardly. After a moment of awkward silence, the baby begins to cry.
Ali hurries over to the baby, who was once sleeping on the bed. She gently picks him up, cradling her. The baby doesn't stop crying. She looks at me with those help me eyes.
"Where's your kitchen?" She asks. I give her directions to the kitchen. "Um, can you hold her while I go make a bottle?" She asks. I agree and she hands me the baby
I sit down on the bed, lightly bouncing the baby in attempts to calm her down. The baby calms down, falling into a light sleep. It brings tears to my eyes. I know this is exactly what I want.
Ali walks back in, surprised to see the sleeping baby
"Wow." Is all she can say.
Soon, maddie and kian walk back in. They sit and stare for a while. Finally, I speak up
"I'm ready to be a daddy."
