Chapter 16

Companion

The truth hurts for a while, but the lie hurts forever.

"Do you want anything else? Like water? food?" I ask. "We want to make the pain go away." Riley said and crumpled on my bed with Talia. Ender came rushing to my room. "How's Bean?" I ask. "Same as they are." He answer. "It will be gone soon." I cheer up. "Ugh!" They both groaned. "I will leave the door open. Just yell if you need me." I said and Ender pull me down with him on the sofa. "Was I? Did I crumple on the floor like that?" I ask Ender. "Yes, you were twisting your body and pounding the floor."

Bean, Talia, and Riley receive their gifts earlier. They were all excited but when the ritual ended they can't even walk or crawl on the way home. "Ender! I'm back!" Moldy said and hop to us. He is back to his rabbit self. "Feeble how was it?" Ender ask. "It was great!" He answered. "What are the two of you talking about?" I ask. "Oh I figured the 3 would want a companion too." Ender answer.

"That's great! Let me see them." I said. "C'mon they are outside." Ender held my hand as we walk out. We went outside, I was expecting like a huge falcon for Riley, a killer poodle for Talia, and a 12ft snake for Bean exept there aren't any. I see a little, cute, grey, mice with a black and yellow tail as long as my my arm. A peach colored pig that has short legs like his body already touched the ground, its shape as a sausage. I swear just like a sausage! Just imagine a short sausage, colored peach, a twisty tail, a thin line for its eyes, small triangular ears, a big pig nose, and a small mouth under the nose. And lastly there is a small green frog, it looks like an average tree frog back on earth.

"You got them pets?"

"Yeah and the queen made a few changes with them." Ender explain. The door open and Riley step out. "Glad that's over." She said while stretching her arms. "Hey you." I greeted. Talia is behind her. "That really hurt." Talia comment. "I wonder how's Bean doing." Ender said.

"So what's with the mouse… pig… and frog?" Riley ask. "They are actually your pets." I answer. "They are?" Talia ask. "Yes, choose one." Ender said. "They can do cool tricks too? Like Moldy?" Riley ask. "I think, I never seen them do anything yet." I answer.

"Well what are you waiting for? Go and test it out." Riley said and pushed my back. I don't think this is a good idea. I look at the mouse first the one with a black and yellow long tail. I carry it with my hand and look at it. It has big eyes and he is just… "Aww! This little guy is really- OW!" I drop the mouse accidentally after I feel my wrist hurting just to see that the mouse's tail is tangled on my wrist and he is hanging like a possum.

Its tail gripped harded like its breaking my bone. "GET IT OFF!" I yell. Ender tried to pull it off but it won't budge. My hand is white and about to turn purple. "Try relaxing!" Riley yell. "How will I relax when this thing is breaking my bone?!" I yell back. "Just relax the more you fight the harder it will grip." She explain. I relax my hand even though it's still shaking. The mouse's tail slither and losen around my wrist, before it fell on the snow Riley caught it in her hands. She look up to me grinning. "I'm keeping this one."

"I'll name you Tif derived from the word stifle which means: to kill by depriving of oxygen." She said to the mouse in her hand. "You can't be serious Riley, that thing is dangerous!" I said to her. "Your tiger pounced on me the first time we met."

"Fine! But you have to be careful with that." I said. "Gotcha!" Riley played with Tif's tail. "My turn! My turn! I want the pig!" Talia said. She picked up the pig and hug it. The pig slip out of her hold and bounced out and went for my direction. Next thing I know is that I'm laying on the snow looking at the sky. "Sabrine." Ender said and went to my side. He help me sit up. "I am so sorry Afina! I'm so so sorry!" Talia said.
