Liar, Liar, but my pants aren't on fire

Park

It was supposed to be a nice change to hang around James. He was supposed to be a breath of fresh air from the soap-opera worthy drama of mine, with Sophia and Logan and assassinations and whatnot. Instead, James constantly brought up the subject of Logan and me, ignoring the looks of pure annoyance I had been shooting him.

Just when I finally said shut up, the roof of the door slammed open. My reaction was instant: I pushed James behind me while taking a defensive stance when I realized it was only my idiot friends--Josh and Zen.

However, their faces were flushed and alarmed. Zen looked as though his father had sent him through a computer challenge that would greatly break down Zen and make him cry. Josh resembled a kid who just saw a bloody ghost.

"Park, you have to stop this!" Zen burst, gesturing for me to come. A bit frightened, James and I took after them. The roof door slammed while we dashed downstairs. There was a commotion going on, I realized. Students were flocking to the first floor, gossiping about a fight.

The fight had taken place in the hallway besides the entrance, the one leading to the commons. A crowd had swarmed around the fight, and it sounded pretty violent. And amazingly well-matched. Only two people would fight using those words at each other, and horror grew in my stomach.

Then the horror grew to unbelievable rage when I was correct as I pushed my way up to the front: Logan and Alec were smashing each other into pulps, slipping, kicking, snarling at each other rabid beasts.

It seemed as if Alec was in the worst shape, for his right arm clung to his chest when he had a free chance. Blood was pouring from his nose in a disgusting manner, coating a pathway down to his dress shirt. His eye was now outlined with a horrible shade of black, also sporting blue and black all over his body. He was gasping for air after Logan got in another punch to the jaw.

Then, Logan proceeded to kick Alec in the chest, knocking the kid to the floor, clutching his ribs in pain. What the hell had gotten into these two?

Not even waiting for an explanation, I walked straight in, grabbing Logan's wrist in the air. I twisted it, which made him cry out in pain before punching him the stomach, causing him to double over. James caught him as he almost fell, and hooked their arms together, pulling them back against Logan's back so he couldn't do any more harm.

"What is wrong with you two?" I shouted, barely able to hold in my anger. First, I had Sophia to deal with, watching her slobber all over my bodyguard. Now I have to deal with two girls who couldn't handle a lunch together?

Somebody shoot me now.

Alec was still on the floor, groaning, his face contorted in pain. I knelt down by him, lifting his head gingerly up. He looked absolutely terrible--worse than that moment on the boat.

"I wouldn't touch him, Park," Logan spat. "Do you know the truth about him? About what he's done? Who he works for?"

"Worked," Alec corrected in a raspy voice. What were they talking--oh. It dawned on me as I realized why Logan and Alec were fighting. The idiot Darkwood had told him the truth.

"Why would you tell him?" I whispered to Alec. However, the pale-eyed boy was already beginning to lose consciousness. I shot an angry look at Logan. "How could you do this to him?"

Logan looked completely taken back, surprised at my words. What did he expect? For me to hug him and cling to him, thank him with my life for being such a good bodyguard?

"Park....you knew." His voice was accusatory, betrayed almost. Guilt was dancing through me as I guessed what he thought. That he couldn't believe I didn't trust him with the information.
