My body was slumped over the cafeteria table as Gerard used a fork to poke me from the other side of the table, afraid I would attack him at any moment.

"Bruh," he said, poking my cheek. "Are you sad cause of what happened this morning? Just get over her dude."

I sighed as he continued poking me. He poked my arm, stomach and forehead. My eye twitched. I grasped the fork, snatching it away from him and placing it on the table. "I'll never get over her."

Gerard sighed, "You're being over dramatic."

I scowled at him but sighed. I was being over dramatic. But... I love her so much that I know I can't get over her. "You don't know what it feels like to fall in love." I mumbled. I rested my elbows on the table and cupped my cheeks, pouting.

Gerard laughed. "You're right. I've never fallen in love. I'm never going to get married either." He stated, shaking his head and grinning.

I raised my eyebrow, "Want to make a bet?"

He smirked, "Hmm. Let me think...it's on."

I smirked back. "If you do get married, you have to give me a month's worth of salary."

He nodded. "Sure. But what if I don't?"

I shrugged. "Then you won't."

He frowned, "That seems unfair."

"Are you a pussy?" I rolled my eyes, holding my hand out.

He narrowed his eyes at me before shaking my hand.

Little things like this distract me from my misery. But thinking of marriage makes me think of Luce. Would we get married some day? Or just end up breaking up like other high school students? I was snapped out of my thoughts. Literally snapped. Gerard snapped his fingers in front of my face, "Close your mouth your drool is about to come out."

I blushed and closed my mouth, wiping the edges.

"You're such a dick." I muttered, crossing my arms.

I took a sip from my lemonade, sighing again.

A hand lightly touched my shoulder. Luce?!

I turned and saw a girl with bleached hair in a skimpy cheerleader outfit. Her eyes were green, and gleaming mischievously, drinking me in. Not Luce. I resisted to urge to sigh.

"Hi," she said, in a seductive voice. Well...at least she was trying. But it sounded like something was stuck in her throat. "I heard you and Sapphire broke up." Her lips was a bruised purplish-red-black colour...it was ugly. No doubt. Her whole face was caked in makeup.

When I didn't answer, she thought that meant yes. "I guess you did. So are you free today?"

She sat beside me, placing her manicured hand on my thigh. I squirmed. "Sorry, no. Can you please get your hand off my thigh?" I asked.

She pouted and fluttered her eyes. She looks like she's having a seizure... I wanted to laugh but I held it in.

She pulled on my tie and brought my face nearer to her face, our foreheads touching. "Then where do you want me to put it?"

Is she that stupid?

I backed away from her. "Sorry. I don't like you. Please stop flirting with me and leave me alone." I said in a monotonous voice. My once uncomfortable expression was replaced with an impassive face.

The girl rolled her eyes at me before standing up and walking away to her slut friends. Sorry not sorry.

A loud bark of laughter drew my attention from the girl.

"You should have seen your face!" Gerard said before bursting into a fit of laughter.

"Shut up." I mumbled, sitting back, down. I pressed my palm to my lips and rested my elbow on the table.

Gerard finally got hungry and decided to eat. I was left alone with my thoughts.

She rejected me... and we're not even together. I sighed. Then my breath hitched. What if Dad wants the agreement with the Lustra family again? Do I still have to get married to Camilla?

The sound of heels making contact with the tiled floor snapped me out of my thoughts.

I looked up and saw Luce. But it wasn't Luce.

"Lucas." Michelle greeted, sittting the same spot the girl sat on. "I know you and Sapphire are having some problems. But...she's hurt too." She explained. "Dad prevented her from speaking to you." She sighed, "I wish I can tell you everything but...it's not my story to tell." She paused. "She needs space. I don't really trust you but... I'm not going to stoop that low to lie to you."

She stood up, "Just remember. This isn't my decision... she needs space."

I watched her as she walked way to the end of the cafeteria before sitting down. I spotted golden hair. Why didn't I see her come in?

I wanted to stand and go over to her table but I heard her twinkling, melodious laugh. I was frozen. She was laughing.

Maybe she's happy without me.

I sit up straight and began eating my food.

If she can get over me...

Maybe I can get over her.
