“You’ll be happy to know that I phoned him,” I announced walking into the kitchen where my mother sat at the table writing something down.
“Who did you phone honey,” She asked looking up at me.
“Adam,” I rolled my eyes at her before grabbing a blueberry muffin. “I thought you wanted us to be friends again?”
“I do honey it’s just that I didn’t think you would phone him since you apparently don’t remember him.”
“Maybe this will help,” I shrugged leaving the room. No I didn’t remember him at all but if I hung out with him for a bit then maybe I would. What could be the harm after all? It’s not like he knows anything about me except when we were kids.
Just as I had reached my room once more my phone started blaring Boyce Avenue’s cover of What Makes You Beautiful which was my ringtone at the moment. Without bothering to look at who was calling me I answered.
“Hello?”
“Amber, its Adam, I was just wondering if you were free today?”
“As far as I know I am,” I replied curiosity getting the best of me. “Why?”
“I was wondering if you by chance wanted to hang out with me and the lads, you can bring somebody if you want.”
“Where do you want to go,” I asked as I started riffling through my closet looking for something to wear.
“We really aren’t supposed to leave the hotel…” He began slowly.
“What hotel?” By this time I had chosen a pair of red shorts, a loose grey tank top and a black belt. Now all I needed was a pair of shoes.
“The Huntley Hotel,” Adam replied.
“I know exactly where that is. Meet you there in about 45 minutes?”
“Sounds good! Oh, and bring a bathing suit,” He laughed saying goodbye. With a smile I hung and up and slipped on a pair of flip flops while dialing Lexi’s number.
“Ello?”
“Hey, I just got off the phone with Adam and he wants to hang out. You interested?”
“There is no way in hell I’m third wheeling with you two,” She replied.
“Well considering we aren’t going on a date or anything you won’t be. Besides the rest of the band is going to be there.”
“Explain,” Lexi demanded. I told her everything Adam and I had talked about while trying to decide what bikini I wanted. By the time I was done explaining Lexi was more than happy to go.
“I’ll be at your place in 10,” I promised hanging up my phone. I grabbed my car keys then headed out the door. “I’m going out,” I called over my shoulder just before the door shut behind me.
As soon as I came to a rolling stop outside of Lexi’s house she was bounding down the steps towards me. “I can’t believe I am going to hang out with one of the most amazing bands ever!” She gushed.
“Please calm your tits before we get there,” I begged. “I don’t want to scare them just because I brought a crazy person with me.”
“Thanks,” her voice was laced with sarcasm but I could tell she didn’t really care. “So why did we have to bring our bathing suits?”
“I never asked,” I shrugged pulling up in front of the hotel. “Though I’m guessing it has something to do with going swimming.”
“Thanks Captain Obvious.” I passed my keys to the valet and headed on inside with Lexi in tow as I sent Adam a text saying we were here. “So do you know what room he’s in?”
