Chapter Four

You pulled out from your pocket your inhaler, and brought it up to your mouth. Damn this asthma… I could run this track and field ten times without stopping, but there’s this asthma to worry about!

BAANG!

The gun fired for the start of the track and field game. You were supposed to pass the small wooden pole to the next player, and they would pass it to the next and so on until the last player reaches the finish line.

Since you were the last one in line that meant that you were going to cross the finish line. But there were five more girls before you, including Kyoko, so you decided to watch the boy’s baseball match first.

It was true: Yamamoto played baseball like an expert. No matter how fast the pitcher threw the ball, Yamamoto returned the ball at them.

“(First Name)-chan!” Kyoko cried out, heading towards you with the stick in her hands. She passed it to you, and you ran to the finish line.

There were two girls that were ahead of you, but you quickly passed them. You were trained for this, after all. But just a few more meters from the finish line, smoke exploded and the field was full of jump hurdles. The weird thing was: the hurdles were only at your side of the field.

What the hell is going on? You thought. Then you noticed a baby with a chameleon on his shoulder, holding a remote. He waved to you, and you waved back.

Back to the field, you concentrated and successfully jumped over the first hurdle. The same goes for the second, and the third, and the last. Just a few more inches to the finish line, you glanced back at the baseball field. Yamamoto had just scored a homerun and was running around the field.

Then you saw something shine around his neck. It was a ring around a chain. It was only half, though, since the center was incomplete. Then again, you noticed Gokudera and Tsuna with the same kind on their necks. What were those, some sort of friendship sign, like a friendship bracelets?

With your final burst of speed, you crossed the finish line and everybody cheered. Your teammates surrounded you, cheering your name. You felt wonderful. First day of school and you already felt welcomed by everybody.

Then the cheering stopped when the skies suddenly became dark. Lightning flashed once again. The girls screamed while heading towards the nearest covered area, and you and the boys did the same, only without the screaming.

Soon, the whole class was under the protection of the roof. Everybody stared at awe as lightning flashed and thunder rumbled. All this commotion didn’t make you realize that Yamamoto was just beside you.

“Great game.” You said to him as you watched to storm. He glanced at you and grinned. “Yo! I didn’t notice you were there! Thanks, you did great too.”
