That odd Slender Creature

The sunlight was hot against his face, he could feel the warmth, it didn't hurt, instead it tingled. He took a step forward, he had feet! He was walking! The sand felt soft under his toes and he laughed as the breeze kissed his face. The palm trees rustled with the breeze and Dipper grinned at the brilliant colours of land. He took more steps forward, getting closer to the greenness, and then he heard a voice. He spun around and spotted the source of this voice, it was a crab. It's voice was deep and scratchy, strangely sounding a lot like his grunkle Stan. Which was weird, then it shouted at him, the voice too loud for it's tiny body.

"WAKE UP!"

Dipper jerked slightly, confused as darkness surrounded him. Then he looked up and saw a scowling Siren. Everything rushed back into his head, making it throb as he returned to reality. It was just a dream, a wonderful and amazing dream at that. "Have a nice nap?" Hissed Grunkle Stan. Oops, he fell asleep again during his lecture. That happened too often, probably because he spent most of his nights sneaking away and visiting the surface, which he wasn't allowed to do. Stans ongoing lectures about danger and staying close to the colony always seemed to make him drowsy, which, added to the lack of sleep he's had leads to him dozing off in the middle of things. The other day, he was helping Mabel with her glamoured fish when he pretty much passed out on top of it and used as a pillow. The worst part was that Stan was getting suspicious, and that led to questions, and Dipper wasn't about to tell him that he was swimming to the surface in the middle of the night without a partner or the rest of the colony just to chart stars and try to see what was on land. He also didn't want Stan to find out he was getting closer to land as well out of pure curiosity of what that furry brown thing was. If Stan found out, then he might as well kiss all his hopes for returning to the surface again goodbye, even for hunts. "Dipper, what is going on? You have been dozing off so much, I'm starting to think your nocturnal! Is it nightmares?" Stan asked, his voice growing softer. Dipper perked up, he thought it was nightmares? Dipper shook his head.

"N-no! It's not that! Just... Just I can't sleep, really excited about the upcoming event! Um.. " Dipper stammered.

"The sun festival?" Asked Grunkle Stan.

"Yes! The sun festival! So excited to ... Dance and swim around and celebrate the warmest day of the year!" Dipper quickly lied. Stan gave him a questioning look then turned to swim away.

"Just, try and get some sleep kid," he said before joining the colony. Dipper heaved a sigh, leaning back slightly. That went well. Now he has to be there for the sun festival... Great. Mabel suddenly swam into him, giving him a death hug, squealing.

"What were you dreaming about Dippin' dots? You looked pretty happy! Was it Candy? Or maybe it was Wendy!" She giggled. Dipper felt his face glow red, he was distracted by his new secret to worry about girls, but the accusation still made him blush madly.

"No! It was just a, nothing! It was nothing!" Dipper quickly exclaimed. Mabel laughed and circled him, his hatch-mate thinking it was one of the two girls. Mabel doesn't like the surface too much, and she doesn't like it when her hatch mate is visiting it, but she keeps quiet about it because she understands how much Dipper loves it. Funny how fate works, Dipper being a siren, can't walk on land, if he tried, he would dry up and probably die. Mabel on the other hand can change her tail into legs if she lets them dry on land, yet she wishes to stay in the water while Dipper dreams of land. Why couldn't he be the merman and she be a siren? Mabel loves to sing and mix that with how she looks, she's perfect for a hunt. Meanwhile Dipper got the stupid singing ability and she got the ability to go on land.

Dipper didn't tell her about his dream and instead swam off while she thought up what his dream was about. He wanted to go to the small island near their colony, sometimes he can see some new things if he gets close enough, and no humans reside there either, probably because their boats keep disappearing near here because of the colony. So it was as safe as it gets to being near land. He got so close that the water barely lapped over his tail and he stared at the green land seaweed and land corals that bloomed on the edge of the green. Why was this place so dangerous? It wasn't even close to dangerous from what he saw. Even if anything attacked him, he had teeth and claws to defend himself with. The only reason Mabel and Stan were so worried was because great uncle ford went missing nearly 15 years ago, before he and Mabel were born. Stan tells them the story every time he catches Dipper or Mabel close to land or the surface, which eventually scared Mabel away from the thought of the surface world and bloomed Dippers curiosity even more than before.

The land seaweed rustled slightly and sent of an odd crunching noise, then a large slim creature stepped into view. It was the colour of mud with a white underbelly and short tail, it's legs were slim and delicate with some sort of weird foot at the bottom. It's eyes were large and brown and it's muzzle was long with a black wet looking stone at the end of it. It looked over at dipper, ears perking up as it's eyes connected with his. He whispered a small tune, slowly getting closer, careful not to scare or provoke it. The big brown eyes clouded over slightly and it walked toward him, graceful with each step. Finally, it got close enough that Dipper was able to reach out and stroke it's muzzle, but as he did so, he stopped singing. The creature froze slightly when the music stopped but then leaned forward, nuzzling Dippers cheek. Dipper laughed as it's rock tickled his cheek. "You aren't a big bad scary monster," Dipper chuckled. "You're just a big ol' catfish!"

"DIPPER!" Shrieked a voice behind him. Dipper whipped around, the odd creature panicking and darting back into the land seaweed and disappearing from sight. Grunkle Stan swam at him, rage engulfing his entire face a he grabbed him by the tail and dragged him into deeper waters, back toward the colony. "WHAT WHERE YOU THINKING?! YOU COULD'VE BEEN KILLED BY THAT THING!" He screeched as soon as they were far enough back into the depths.

"I was careful! It's harmless!" Yelled Dipper, pulling away from the older sirens grip. Stans fins flared in anger.

"How long have you been doing this?" He hissed, gritting his teeth in the process.

"Like I would tell you!" Dipper screamed, his fins flaring with the other sirens, making himself seem bigger and scarier.

"If you don't tell me, I'm going to have Mabel tail you everywhere you go for the next three moons!" Stan threatened, getting closer to the younger siren. Dipper glared at Stan, not backing down.

"If I told you, you'd do it anyway! You have no leverage on me!" Dipper said darkly. This set Stan over the bar and he grabbed Dipper by the ear fin, the most sensitive part of a siren and therefore making him yelp in pain, and dragging him toward their sleep-hole. Stan shoved the younger siren into the area and blocked it with a rock.

"You will remain here until I say you can leave!" Stan growled and swam off. Dipper shrieked in anger and swam in small quick circles, beyond rage.

"YOU CAN'T DO THIS!" Dipper cried, throwing his weight against the rock, yet at no avail as he was too small. He sat in anger for a few minutes before grabbing his human satchel that he found on a beach and shoving his Grunkle fords Journal #3, some food and his own journal and drawing stick into it. Quickly, he swam to a dark corner and pulled away the seaweed covering an opening and swam through the tight tunnel. The rage and sadness he felt rushed through his veins as he swam away from the colony. He wasn't dumb. He knew what he was doing.

He knew exactly what he was doing.

(Author here! I am so sorry about the other stories! I won't delete them and I will update them eventually! At the moment I'm in a siren frenzy and what can I say, siren dipper is cute. I hope you like it so far! And thanks for reading!)
