Strobe lights fell as the base dropped. It was ladies' night at her college town's only nightclub. Alissa took a large sip from her tart apple martini as she looked over toward her friends on the crowded dance floor.
Catherine was dancing with some tan guy she never met before. Her long blonde hair curved down her sides, swaying with the upbeat music.
Alissa headed to the floor-to-ceiling tiled unisex bathroom and heard who she knew was Katie moaning in a stall with some guy. She rolled her eyes as she walked into an empty stall. As she sat down on the cold toilet seat, her head twirled. Alissa slammed her hands flat up against the sides of the stall to steady herself.
After pulling her skin-tight jeans back up, she took off her sterling silver engagement ring and placed it on the sink counter. She washed her hands, dried them in the severely loud industrial dryer, fixed her brown hair in the dingy mirror, and then headed back to the bar for another martini.
With a fresh martini in hand, she turned toward the dance floor. Catherine was still dancing with the same guy. Katie had returned with her auburn hair tousled. She started to dance with Katie.
Soon, her martini was almost gone and the room was spinning to the music. Strong hands wrapped themselves around Alissa's hips and a muscular body leaned against hers. They danced together for a while, moving their hips in sync. Alissa looked up to find her friends, but they had disappeared on the overcrowded dance floor.
Alissa chugged down the last sip of her martini, then green eyes turned her around and kissed her. She went along with it as her brain started to blur.
