Lydia:
After I heard a crack, I run downstairs to see Owen laying on the tile, his eye shut, and Luke rubbing his knuckles. I grab his hand, his face wincing as I poke the little blue bruises forming on his knuckles
"Lydia, I'm sorry, but what he said was inexcusable. I had to."
"Did he talk about your mom?" I ask. He bows his head in a yes. Everyone knew that Luke was extremely protective of his mother. Every girl wanted a son like him, and every guys wanted a relationship like he and his mother's. A small groan escapes from from Owen's lips, so I know he will live. I honestly don't care at this point. I wrap Luke in a hug.
"Thanks Luke, I appreciate it." I grab a pillow off one of the dinner chairs, and place it under Owen's head, and leave him there for the night.
