Chapter 19: True Feelings Revealed

I had gone to get Ayanna by myself as Chance went off to find a new bedroom door later that morning. I took her for ice cream since she behaved for Aunt Maria, all night and didn't cause any trouble, thinking about when I had developed feeling for Chance.

Had those feeling always there, and I was just now experiencing them? I remembered growing up despising him, so what made me change my mind about him now. I when he first came here I thought it was for Ayanna's sake, which I was thankful for, even though we fought like crazy but when had my hatred turn to love?

"Who do we have here?" I heard the spiteful female voice say. Looking over my shoulder, I saw Rose walking over to my daughter and me with a malicious grin across her face. "Hello, sister."

I glance over at Ayanna, who was busy eating her ice cream. She didn't notice Rose walking over to us until she was standing beside the table. She glanced up at her with a curious look "Hello."

Rose, glared at my daughter with disgust flashing in her eyes, "So you're the little twit keeping the happy couple together."

I spring to my feet not caring who saw me at this stage. "You have no right calling my daughter names. It's not her fault Chance used you." I screamed, "You need to leave before I call the cops."

"Oh dear sister you're so jumpy." She laughed, looking back down at Ayanna, "Why is your mother such a bitch."

"A what," Ayanna question, looking over at me not understanding what was going on.

The longer Rose talked down to my daughter the more I was ready to attack her, but when I went to take a step towards her someone gripped hold on my arm, "You need to watch your language around our daughter." I heard Chance voice say from behind me with just as much anger in his voice as I was feeling. "I reckon it's best if you leave." He walks pass me and stood in front of our daughter blocking her from Rose's view while crossing his arms across his chest.

Rose, through her head back laughing, "Oh, that's not what you were alleging that one night. You couldn't get enough of me, you kept telling me how I was the love of your life. That you do anything to keep me by your side." As she spoke, I felt my heart break thinking how he could say something like that to someone he just met.

"I was inebriated; you can't take anyone's word for confidence when their blackout drunk. I must have believed you were Milly because she's the only one I will always love, besides our daughter. So I'll tell you one more time, leave." He yelled with more anger in his voice stepping up to her. "If I ever see you anywhere near my family again, I wouldn't hesitate to have your ass thrown in jail."

"Oh, Chancy boy you know you had more fun with me than with that washout." Rose laugh, stepping up to him to run her hand down his shirt. "Forget them, she evidently didn't want you then. Why would she want you now after all this time?"

Chance looked back at me with a devilish smile playing across his face, "Because we know one another, and I know I hold a special place in her heart, which in the same place she has in mine. I suggest you leave before I call the cops.

"Fine, but you'll regret rejecting me," She said, shaking her blonde hair over her shoulder and walking away.

"Daddy, who was that and why did she call Mommy a bitch," Ayanna asked, still sitting there as she watched all the drama unfold before her.

"First thing Ayanna, don't ever say the B word again." Chance began to explain leaning down to look at her, "Second that's is a bad person who wants to separate me and your mommy, which will near happen. Third, I want a bit of your ice cream" then he jokingly jumped for her ice cream to act like he was going to take it from her.
