After sorting out that S.Coups was indeed one of the new trainees, I said my greetings, thanked him and went back into my own unit. We had promised to grab dinner together later.
Bolting the door, I slid against it onto the floor. I couldn't believe this. Could it be that the company had signed me thinking I was a boy? I know I had a husky voice and my face was pretty androgynous but my boobs weren't that small....right? You could still tell.... Right?
Scrunching my hair up in frustration, I tried to recall the past few days. Got7 had to have recognized me as a girl right? I was wearing my girly outfit. At least Youngjae, Yugyeom and BamBam should've noticed. Especially Yugyeom when he carried me.....right? Mark and Jackson were another story. But then again, Mark did walk past me thinking I was a guy.
"You'd make guys turn for you man..." Mark's words echoed in my mind.
But what about the BTS boys? I know I did the audition dressed like a guy but....shit. No wonder Rap Mon asked if it was okay that a female doctor treated me! And the fact that they allowed me to even stay here. Something seemed fishy to me. Standing up briskly, I practically ran to the kitchen to look for the note again.
"Hyungdeuls have to go for training..." I read over and over again.
'Hyungdeuls'? When I first learned Korean, I was told that boys addressed their older male counterparts as 'Hyung' and females as 'Noona'. For girls it was 'Oppa' and 'Unni'.
Oh. My. God.
They really thought I was a guy. What was I going to do?!?!
In a panic, I dialed Mark's number to get in touch with him. However, I couldn't reach him. He must've been busy. Trying Jackson's cell, I got the same response. Groaning, I tried to calm down. This was all a misunderstanding and I just had to go down to headquarters and explain to them. They were extremely impressed so there was no way they were going to let me go... Right?
No longer sure of myself, I decided to just ignore the situation at hand and watch TV until S.Coups called me out for dinner.
Turning on the TV, it was just my luck that the famous gender-bender drama 'To the Beautiful You' was streaming. I scoffed at the fact that the producers thought that Sulli was a convincing enough character to play the main lead. But I couldn't deny that I loved the drama. As I watched the drama, I couldn't help but think about my situation.
What if the company really did think I was a boy? Should I just play along? Besides, I got along better with boys and I didn't want to end up joining a female kpop group that did sultry/cutesy themed choreo and sucky catchy pop songs. Say I did admit I was a girl, would the company let me go? It seemed that they picked all males as trainees. Did S.Coups think I was a boy too? Is that why he didn't correct the Ahjummeoni at the food stall? Aish jinja. This was driving me crazy.
I must've been lost in my thoughts for a long time because before I knew it, it was 7PM.
The doorbell rang and I opened the door to a fresh looking S.Coups dressed in a plain white sweater and dripping hair.
"Ready? I'm starving." He said.
"Yea hold on let me change out real quick" I told him, gesturing for him to come in.
I walked into my room and shut the door. Taking off J-Hope's HBA sweater, I pulled out my favorite Adidas hoodie from my luggage and put it on. As I was doing so, I heard the door open and S.Coups came into my room.
Pulling the hem of my hoodie down quickly, I yelled "what are you doing?!"
"What's wrong? We're both guys here. Besides, we're gonna be living in the same dorm soon and are probably gonna train together for awhile so we gotta get comfy right?" He said as he laid down in my bed.
Oh duck me. He really did think I was a guy.
Sighing, I pulled him off the bed and towards the front door of the dorm. As we put on ur shoes, we heard someone keying in the code for the lock on the other of the door. The door opened to reveal 7 tired looking Bangtan boys.
S.Coups immediately erected himself and bowed a 90 degree bow.
"Annyeonghasimnika Bangtan Sunbae-nim! It's an honor to meet you!" Shouted S.Coups loud and clear.
The boys gave a startled look before turning towards me.
"Nae... Annyeong. (Your name)...who is this?" Rap Mon directed to me.
"I am Seung Chol but please call me S.Coups! I'm a new trainee and your new neighbor. Please take care of me!" S.Coups introduced himself.
"Ahh. Nae. Work hard okay?" Rap Monster replied. The boys gave a tired smile and walked past us, each member ruffling my hair as they stepped past the doorframe.
"That. Was. So. Cool." squealed S.Coups. I chuckled at his reaction.
"Uh Rap Mon....hyung." I felt the word roll of my tongue with surprising ease. As soon as I said that, I saw Jungkook perk up to look at me. He raised his eyebrows, shook his head and then continued to untie his laces.
"We're going to eat. Do you want me to bring back anything?" I asked.
"No it's okay. We bought food back for dinner. You go bond with your teammate. Hyungdeuls are exhausted so we can't keep you company. Mianhae" Rap Monster sent an apologetic look.
"Arrasoyo. Gokjonghajimarayo. I'll be back soon. Good work today!" I said as I locked the door behind me.
"You're so lucky to be living with them." Whined an envious S.Coups.
"It's not all fun and games you know" I said as I imagined the boys walking in on me changing like S.Coups did. I was going to have to be extremely careful from now on before I sorted this dilemma out. I didn't want them to think I was intentionally tricking them and that I couldn't be trusted.
"So where to?" Asked S.Coups.
"Mmmm.... Kimbap heaven" I said, naming my favorite food spot.
"To kimbap heaven we go" said S.Coups as he slung an arm around my shoulder.
And off we went indeed.
