Do You Remember

When little hands grasped the air

A curious sparkling stare

Giggles bubbling uncontrolled

Unconditional love unfolded

Oh the sweet bliss of childhood.

Wide eyed and alone

Cautiously, excitedly

The first smell of books and pens

The first chance at lunch with friends

Before realizing the sadness of tests and bells.

Heart racing, thundering on

Butterflies hard to swallow back down

Warmth spreading from finger tips

As heat spreads through quaking lips

Young love, first love's sweetness.

Mind speeding, hands shaking

Excitement building, legs trembling

The sweet smell of freedom

The looming worries of the human kingdoms

The world rife with possibilities in adulthood.

Laughter building, relief sighing

Heart fluttering, Finally, finally happening

The countdown to completion, it's finally over

Arms waving, hugs and tears streaming

The long awaited end to tests and classrooms.

Palms sweaty, Thoughts muddled

Deep breaths, buttons fiddled with

The first meeting

First greeting

The start-line of your career.

Tears trailing, billowing fabrics of white

Joy and wander, sighs of delight

The long awaited first page

The long hoped for fairytail

Life filled with love.

Nerves on end, hands shaking

Smiling for too long, lips aching

Tears of deep joy and gasps of laughter

A small bundle wiggles his fist at the world

Full circle to the beginning we don't recall.

Such is life at the beginning

Such is the start of it all
