This little girl was becoming my everything in this little amount of time. She almost looked like me, but she said her parents names where different from mine and it was true. I wanted her to stay with me; I would keep her safe. If something did happen to her parents, I knew I wouldn't be able to adopt her. I'm too young, but maybe my parents could? I have to be smart about this, but if I do do that, then they will look into our papers and DNA then find out she isn't actually my sister. Maybe I can say I'm her babysitter? If I'm her babysitter, than they have to let her go with me whenever the hurricane is over, and we can get out of this shelter.
I've been awake for awhile now, and I can see people handing out chargers to adults and teenagers. one came up to me and asked if I needed one I replied with a simple answer. "IPhone 4s." Once they gave me one, I had to find an outlet, which there was one on the wall beside me. I plug up my phone, and once it turns on, I check all of my notifications. It turns out my mom messaged me 46 times and called me 10 times, and my dad called and messaged me 20 times each; all of them asking where I am, if I'm okay, is everything fine, they're getting help, call them back, text me when you get this, everything. I could tell they where scared of me being gone for so long. I started to cry again because I missed them. I decided to text them back saying I was okay and that a little girl named Charlotte didn't know where her parents were. She was five years old. She still needed them.
They replied right away. I was really relieved and they were, as well. I was happy to hear from them. In between messages, I could hear trees cracking under the pressure and wind. Everything suddenly became real. By now, the power has went out, and I've lost all phone signal, so i couldn't text or call my parents to tell them I'm okay.
I swear, this day couldn't get any worse.
