"NO! You can't do this!" I scream as the executer walks over. No one my seems to agree with me this time. Jacob looks at me with love, fear and sadness in his eyes.
"You had your chance, girl," The executer sneers. I jump up onto the platform and hug the box.
"I love you," I whisper, only loud enough for Jacob to hear. The poison goes in and Jacob goes limp.
My world is spinning, first Lily now Jacob! My life used to be bad, but now it's just horrible.
"I'm sorry, it had to be done," my father says.
"You! You, you MONSTER! Dad I love him. I mean LOVED him. This war is pathetic, we say we are doing the right thing, but that's what EVERYONE is saying!" I explode, and rush off into the woods.
All of my animals follow, except for one. The monkey seems as broken as I am, I wonder why?
************************************
I thrust another stone into the pool. Plop! The splash gets me wet but I barley notice.
My life will never be the same, I swear to never again set foot in my village! Ermmm, maybe sometimes, for food or to visit Daisy. I wish the war was over RIGHT NOW!
The mother panda walks over and nuzzles me, patience, I remind myself. If everyone plays their cards right the war will be over soon, and I don't care who wins.
"Hahaha! I knew I'd win!" The laughter that follows carries up to my perch. I peer down to the grassy valley below. Two men in jousting equipment on we're riding on unicorns.
"Well, see you later!" The "winner" says as he rides off. Then I notice the symbol on his chest.
"Filthy Serpent," I mutter to myself. I then realize that I have my bow with me.
My dress flutters as I jump down, now drawn. The knight is shocked but almost hides it.
"Thought I smelled something funny," he glares. I almost shoot when the baby panda jumps in front of me, he directs my attention to my monkey who is slowly walking to the knight.
"What are these animals for?" The knight asks, curious. He does a good job of hiding his fear. He is trying to get under my skin, I decide to play along.
"They each represent a part of my personality," I inform him.
"The only one that I know is that tiger of yours, strength," he tells me, trying to relate, he is failing at getting me to like him. My panda thinks otherwise, she is nuzzling him with the monkey.
"I ought to be going now," he bows "until we meet again-"
"Marigold, my name is Marigold."
"Goodbye, Marigold." I don't know what happens to my instincts but, I don't shoot as he rides off.
