Chapter 2

The dinner was delicious but I had lost my appetite after what we
Talked about.
"Rose I have some very sad news." My father said after mother got out the food.
"What is it Peter?" Mother answered
"The Dragon clan has joined the war, and they have joined the enemy. They have different policy's than the serpents so they will be taking hostages."
Oh no! What if little Daisy is taken!
I look at the little baby next to me. Daisy is my little baby sister, her birth animals were a panda for kindness and a parrot for beauty.
"But that's not all Rose, they have already taken someone." He looks at me and gulps.
Who is it?
"They've taken Lily..." I didn't here the rest of the conversation because I left the hut and went into the woods, I hadn't cried in a while but now seemed to be a good time
No no no no no this can't be happening! Not Lily anyone else! If I hadn't blown up at her maybe this wouldn't have happened.
All of a sudden Jonah, our messenger walked out of the forest.
"Marigold where is your father?" He said to me
"Here, follow me." I said calming myself down. I took him to my hut and listened to the conversation.
"I bring a message from the enemy"
"Well then, spit it out."
"They say that they will kill one child every day unless we surrender.
"Tell them to go to h-"
"Peter!" My mother yelled. She disapproved of bad language.

Two days later the Dragon clan kept their promise and I decided to go hunting to clear my mind. As I headed towards the waterfalls I heard men yelling and swearing at each other. I climb to the top of the falls to get a better look. The cliff is very steep and if a human fell from this height they would surely die. Luckily elves aren't built like that. When I got to the top I saw two buff men fighting over a sword.
"I'm the one who caught the beast, I get to kill it!"
"Well I had the idea to try to catch it so I get to kill it!" It went on like this for a while but then I finally noticed what animal... Actually PERSON was in the cage!
Heather! She disappeared yesterday!
They were referring to her as an it a beast, I needed to stop this now! I jumped down and aimed at the man with the sword.
"It's an elve!" One exclaimed to the other.
"What are you afraid of a little lady with a bow." I said teasingly
"Why you-" the one without the sword said as he approached. Without hesitation I shot him in the knee.
"Have you forgotten I'M the one with the weapon?" I said as I shot the other one in the foot.
"Now go home and admit to your leader that a child with a bow disarmed you." I said as they scurried of. I rushed over to Heather and opened the cage.
"Your okay, I'm going to take you home now. Your safe now." I said reassuringly. We started off towards he and I felt a surge of confidence run through me. I wish it lasted more than the way home.
