Their coach blows the whistle and skates furiously towards the two boys who are heated and ready to continue the fight.
Owen is holding Channing back, while Elliot struggles to hold Colby back.
Their coach stands in between Channing and Colby and stares at both of them. He starts to yell something that I can't hear, mainly because the confusion is blocking everything from the outside.
The coach instructs Owen to take Channing away as I can read from the gesture of a pointed finger towards the locker room.
Owen guides Channing away, making sure he doesn't escape and start to fight with Colby again as I'm sure he would love to do.
After Channing is gone, their coach turns to Colby and speaks to him sternly, making Colby look small. After a while the whole team sort of looks at each other in awe. There's a pause and suddenly, Colby skates off the ice, as the entire team jumps on Elliot, congratulating him on something.
I walk towards Colby who's making his way towards the locker room.
I catch him right before he goes through the sliding doors.
"Colby" I yell. I grab his arm and he turns around.
His face is all scrunched up in anger, but as soon as he sees me it softens and I even see a small smile.
"What's going on ?" I ask him, desperate to find out.
"I lost my captaincy." He says. As if I didn't have a filter, I jump in his arms. He catches me and rest his chin on my shoulder, and then slowly puts me down, following my body not letting go of my waist.
"I'm so sorry Colby. I know how excited you were for that." He shakes his head lightly and then pulls away from the hug his hands still lingering on my waist.
"It's okay. Less pressure this way. Sucks for Elliot though." He says, pointing to Elliot with his thumb and with light humour in his voice. His hand goes back to my waist as soon as he's done pointing towards Elliot. His head is still turned to the crowd of hockey players that are continuing with the scrimmage.
"Colby." He turns his head to look at me, and maybe it's the fact that he's still holding my waist, or that his sweaty hair is pushed back and that it makes him look very attractive, or maybe it's the fact that his eyes look so deep in appreciation for me but when he turned his head, I swear I now feel something completely different for Colby.
"Yeah ?" He asks.
I shake my head and step backwards, letting his arms fall.
"Why were you and Channing fighting ?" He looks at me for a second and then sighs and his head drops.
"I- can we talk about that later ?" He asks. I roll my head to the side and I sigh placing my hand on my hip.
"Why ? Why can't you tell me now ?"
"Because Lina. This is something between me and Channing, and I really don't want you to get involved." He pauses and breathes and then grabs my hands and intertwines his fingers with mine.
"I really don't want you to get involved in silly boy fights alright ? You're too important." Then he pulls me forward and kisses my forehead.
"I have to go back to practice. I'll drive you home later right ?" I gulp and nod watching as our fingers separate and I miss them as soon as they do.
He stalks off back on the ice and seconds later Owen and Channing walk past me. Owen shoots me a smile but Channing does nothing.
He doesn't even notice that I'm there.
