Chapter 19

I'm putting away the last of Jude's t-shirts as my phone buzzes in my pocket. I set the basket down on the guest room bed and take a look at the caller.

"Hey!"

"Hey babe. What's up ?" Colby says.

"Nothing much at all. I have to pick up the kids in a few." I announce. There's silence on the other end, while I walk over to the boys room to see if anything needs to be cleaned.

Of course, it's a boys room.

I head into Liz's room and notice that everything is perfectly clean, her bed made, her toy animals are hidden under her bead. She has books spread out everywhere around her room.

What is going on ?

"Nice okay. Well I was wondering what you wanted for your birthday cause you know, it's coming soon." He says, with a nervous tone.

"Um, well I already told my mom what books I want so I can't really give you that. And other than those books I don't want anything else." I explain to him.

"Oh alright then."

"Actually. There is one thing I want."

"What ?"

"To spend it with you." I hear his laugh on the other end.

"Alright. I can do that no problem." I look at the time and realize that I need to get going.

"Listen, I have to go, but maybe we can hang out later ?" I start walking down the stairs.

"Sure thing. I'll pick you up from work."

"Perfect." And right as I go to hang up the phone, I hear my name being called.

"Hey Elina ?"

"Yeah ?"

"I love you." I giggle to myself as I slip my boots on and grab my jean jacket.

"I love you too." Then I hang up and run across the street to catch the bus that is pulling up at its stop.

The doors swing open and I see Liam's face first.

Like always.

"Hi Elina!" He says, running towards me and grabbing my hand. He squeezes my hand to make sure that it's still there and then out comes Jude.

His shirt is completely dirty, and he has a mild scratch on his forehead.

"Jude what in the world!" I say, as he walks up to me. I place my finger under his chin, lifting it up so I can see the scratch better.

"It's nothing I promise."

"it better be." I pause and look at the bus. "Now where's your sister ?" And right as I speak those words Liz comes walking down the steps.

Except she's not alone.

Wesley Naro, with his fresh new haircut is following her.

"Hey Lina."

"Wes, this is my nanny Elina."

"We've met." He says, waving. He smiles at me and watches as Liz comes over to whisper something in my ear.

"I hope it's okay that he's coming over ?" She asks quietly. We start walking towards their house, Liam's tiny fingers still wrapped around mine.

 Wesley and Jude are laughing at something and Liz has a pleading look on her face.

"As long as it's okay with your parents."

"Why did you invite Wesley anyway ?" I ask out loud so that Wesley can hear me.
