it was a sunny day in california, and melody thought that it was the perfect day to have a walk outside.

after her kiss with calum on the day before, he had took her home and god, he was being so cute.

"i'm sorry about that! i was just in the moment and i didn't even know if you wanted a kiss and-"

"relax, that kiss was great."

"really?"

"yeah."

they quickly exchanged phone numbers, texting each other at midnight. melody truly liked calum, but she wasn't so sure if she loved him just yet.

so, she took the time to put on nice clothes and have a walk outside. robin, her best friend and flatmate, texted her about how she was out with some friends and how she probably would be spending the night there.

melody scoffed. wasn't robin the awkward and clumsy one out of the both of them? even if melody thought like that, she couldn't bring herself to say she was jealous.

to be honest, she thought that robin would be jealous of calum. instead, robin told her that she met a boy at the donut shop she worked at, and she wasn't planning to 'lose' him just yet.

melody stopped in front of the familiar donut shop, and took a step in. robin never told her where she exactly was, but melody only visited because the shop makes really good donuts. really good.

the bells above the door dinged as she entered, the people inside happily chatting away. to her surprise, the donut shop wasn't full, only a few people occupying the seats.

"melody! welcome back!"

"hey, jessie."

jessie was one of the workers there. melody knew her because she always took robin's place when she wasn't there to work.

"what would you like?"

"i'll just have a coffee and 2 sugar donuts."

"coming right up!"

melody sat on one of the bar stools, quickly occupying herself with her phone. her brain was clouded with ideas of what she could do on her phone, but it didn't stop her from tapping on the messages icon.

her eyes scanned over the familiar names, looking for the one she had recently put in.

cal.

she smiled to herself, typing in a message.

melody: hey, you online?

when he didn't reply, melody shut down her phone, placing it back in her pocket. her attention was directed to jessie, who was getting ready to make her coffee.

a buzz interrupted her thoughts, signaling that she had a new message. taking it out once again, melody secretly hoped that it was calum.

it was.

cal: hii. i just got back from my friends house. what are you up to?

melody: im at the donut shop near my flat, the donuts are soo good.

cal: i'd love to come, but im busy as hell. sorry, yeah.

melody: nooo, its fine. my friend ditched me ew

cal: sorry about that bby

melody: ok wait let me go eat my donuts and then i'll talk to you soon!!

cal: oki

"melody, your donuts are ready!"

"oh okay, thanks."

the bells rung once again, making melody's head turn. she spotted the familar dark haired girl, with two other girls she didn't know about.

melody quickly turned back around in hopes of robin not seeing her, quickly pulling her phone out to look like as if she was busy.

"melody, hey!"

fuck.

robin took a seat next to her, smiling at her happily. what's up with this cheerful smile?

"hi?"

"almost forgot! this is lauren and jade, i met them at the bookstore nearby."

"i'm lauren. you must be melody?"

"yeah!"

"hi! i'm jade."

melody couldn't help bit feel insecure. these two girls were way more prettier than her. lauren had dark brown hair with dark blue tips, while jade had vibrant purple hair. it might sound a bit odd, but they looked absolutely gorgeous.

robin leaned in towards melody. "don't worry, they both have boyfriends."

melody smiled. that made her feel a lot better.

thanks, robin.
