Just The Start

Alexis

Chris went upstairs and came down in some red and black Jordan shorts with a black shirt and a Bulls Snapback. He slipped on his black Jordan slippers.

"You ready?" He asked me grabbing his keys

"Yeah."

After looking for an apartment he was feeling we pulled up to these nice apartments. Chris liked them and he was eagar to check it out. We walked into the office.

"Hi, how may I help you?" Asked an

older woman

"Hi. I'm looking for an apartment." Said Chris

"For you and this beautiful young woman. Must I say you two make a beautiful couple." Said the elder lady

"Uh Thanks." Chris said smiling at me. I just waved him off playfully.

They were going over paperwork while I was eatting candy out the candy dish.

"Alexis? We're about to go see the apartment."

We followed behind the lady to the apartment. We got to the door and she unlocked it. It was upstairs and it was nice and spacious. The kitchen was nice, marble counters. Two bedroom, 2 bath and the master bedroom was big. Maybe I'll have to kick Chris out when I wanna come over.

"You like it too?" Chris asked me interrupting my thoughts

"Yeah. It's nice, real nice."

"Yeah. Should I get it?"

"Yeah you should."

I went looking around the house admiring the bathroom. Chris and the lady were talking about the apartment. Chris came into the bathroom.

"We're heading back to the office. Come on."

"Okay."

"You feeling this apartment huh?"

"Yeah I like it."

"Well Ms. Johnson said if everythjng works out, I can get the apartment in 2 weeks."

"That's great."

"Just gonna sign some papers them we can leave."

"Can I wait for you in the car?"

"Yeah." He said handing me his keys. "You okay?"

"Too much running around for me." I said taking his keys

"Okay. I won't take long." He said walking away

I went to his car and sat there listening to Pandora on my Drake Station. I checked my phone to see it was 6:30. It was starting to get a little windy and it started to rain lightly. Chris finally came out of the office and got in the car.

"You ready for me to take you home?"

"Yeah."

It started raining harder and the weather got so bad that our signal for Pandora was lost. We got to my house safely. Chris walked me in and came up to my room.

"Thanks."

"You're welcome. I should get going."

"Chris wait. It's a little dangerous out there."

"I'll be aight."

"No. You're not going anyway."

"Where am I gonna sleep then? Keith ain't here and I ain't fenna sleep in his bed knowing what he do."

"Make yourself a bed on the floor."

"Really?"

"Yeah. It won't hurt you."

"Aight then."

Chris

Me and Alexis stayed up talking. She went and got in the shower. I ended up falling asleep. I woke up a few hours later to Alexis waking me up.

"Chris?" She called

"..."

"Christopher?"

"hmm?"

"Do you hear that?"

"Hear what?"

Thunder sounded loud.

"That.!!" She exclaimed

"It's just thunder. You'll be okay." I said turning to go to sleep

"Chris?"

"Yeah." I kinda mumbled

"Can you come up here?" She asked

"It's just thunder." I said getting up to get in her bed

"I'm from New York."

"Oh yeah." I said then yawning. "Can you go to sleep now?"

"Yeah." She said yawning

I fell back to sleep. I woke up the next morning smelling Alexis's shampoo and condition hair. Smelled like Wild Cherries. She looked so adorable and sweet when she sleeps. She shifted in her sleep waking up to me staring at her.

"Is that how you look at people when they wake up?"

"Naw. Just admiring your beauty." I said smiling

She sighed getting out of her bed.

"What's wrong?"

"Nothing." She said avoiding eye contact

"Okay. Well I gotta go. I got work in a few hours."

"Okay." She said still avoiding eye contact

"Can I have a hug?" I asked

She hugged me and then walked me downstairs. I got in my car and went home. I got dressed and left for work.

"So what up with you and little mama from McDonald's?" Asked Dion

"She tryna claim I'm her baby daddy knowing damn well I broke it off with her more than 3 months ago."

"You wrapping willy up ain't you?"

"Yeah nigga. I ain't that slow." I said looking at him like he was stupid

"Just asking. Look don't trip off her. Just worry about oh girl you had up in here yesterday. What's her name again?"

"Alexis..." I trailed off

"Yeah. Her. Keep her brozz."

"Nigga go help them customers." I said to Dion while walking to the back. I was about to start my break and I was tired as hell. I was just chilling on the couch and next thing, I'm waking up to Dion ass in my face.

"What the fuck Dion?"

"Nigga get up.!!!" He said

I got up and walked out front. Our other co-worker Kelly was here working the registure.

"Come on Kelly. Don't act like you didn't miss me." Said some dude with a big ass fro.

"I told you before Jacob. I didn't like how the ho was calling your phone all the time." Kelly said

"Kelly, she's my clothing designer."

"What she gon design at 3 in the morning Jacob?"

"Yo J. Just go home man." Dion said

"D, talk to her for me." Said Jacob

"I got you bro."Dion said

My shift was almost over. It was Sunday and today was slow. I spent all day texting Alexis, making sure she was okay. Can't wait to get off work.
