This poem is about the book 1984.
If havn't read it, I suggest you do, it's pretty good.
I wrote this poem for an assignment in my English class. When it says "Big Brother" it is talking about the government from the book. Hope you like it!
***************************************Our hands clasped together,
Our bodies trembling in fear,
We gazed at the sight,
Of the Big Brother we thought we knew.He towered over us,
His tiny trembling servants,
Once so protective and kind,
Now so wicked and cruel.Despretly we clung,
Shaken by betrayal,
To the only thing we had left. Our hearts beat in sync,
So fast and so fierce,
As we held onto our love,
That we'll never leave behind. We tried to be brave,
We struggled to hold on,
But Big Brother just laughed,
Laughed at our feeble rebellion. He bragged about how easily he could rip us apart.
But still we held on,
Held the other's shaking hand,
Through the tears,
Our eyes shone with defiance. With a single voice we shouted insults at him,
Rebuking him,
Revealing all his lies,
Crying out to the half-deaf ears of the people.Big Brother's laughing ceased,
He glowered down at us,
Doing everything he could to quiet us.But we will not be silenced,
We will not obey,
We will shout till our throats are raw,
And our voices give out.Even then,
We will still rebel,
We will still hold on,
Cling to the fire in our hearts,
And the thoughts in our minds.Big Brother may frighten,
He may put us away,
He may kill,
But he will not win,
Not again.
