"You're not leaving right?
I chuckle and turn to Eve and Ma
"I'm not trying to make an escape. I'm just going out for a little bit. I won't be gone long. Just maybe the day or so. I'll be back in no time."
"You promise not to leave Ms Hailey?"Ma petite reaches her arms out and grin.
"Of course not. I just need a few hours to clear my head" I hug her gently and grab my purse. We head out to the front of the big tent. I keep my eyes low to the ground not wanting to look at Jimmy as he stands against one of the tent stakes. I avoided him all yesterday for the same reason I can barely glance at him now. The pain. It comes back just like before. His eyes are red and puffy. It looks like he hasn't slept at all since. His eyes filled with sorrow and regret. I want to forgive him. I want him to hold me in his arms. But I can't. Not yet. It's just too soon. I walk to the car when a hand grabs mine. Rough skinned, conjoined, deformed, beautiful. I keep my eyes to the dirt.
"I know you'll only be gone for a while, but I really want to talk to you when you get back. Im so sorry Angel." His voice cracks. He raises my hand and presses it to his smooth pink lips. I bite my own to keep myself together. He lets go and I don't say anything, afraid I'll break down. I walk to the car, seeing those familiar heads in the backseat.
"Are you ready?" Her German accent asks. I turn to Elsa.
"Yes but why are they coming with us?"
"I have some business to take care of beforehand with them." I nod and get in the front.
The ride is silent an awkward.
"So with you being depressed and upset for however long I guess Elsa will need a new warm up." Dot says lowly. Elsa chuckles.
"My dear you are delusional to believe that I would cast you as my warm up after your little outburst on Halloween." Dot glares at her. "Besides her anger and emotions make a more erotic and powerful performance." She almost says it through her teeth like she's mad at me.
"Miss Elsa? I thought we were going into town. That sign back there said it was to the left." Bette says kindly.
"Trust me liebchen. I have got even a better idea." We go up the driveway of a beautiful estate.
"Someday I hope to live in a house like this." Bette gasps. She turns to me. "That man that's gonna put me and Dot on tv said we could end up richer than we could imagine. He also wanted to talk to you Hailey. See if you were interested." She smiles. Me? Why would I want to be on tv?
"Really? He's going to offer our angel the deal as well? Well that's news to me." Elsa grips the steering wheel. The leather in her gloves straining. She parks the car in front of the door. "I want you all to stay in the car until I call you." We nod and she gets out to ring the bell. In moments a blonde haired older lady opens the door.
"Who is she talking to? We can't see." Bette asks.
"Some blonde lady. Never seen her before. Where did she say she was taking you guys?"
"Into town to get the essentials for celebrities. Makeup and hair dye and such." She gleams. Elsa turns to us and motions for us to get out. I open my door and walk to them with the other following behind.
"What's going on?"
"Take off your harness." I look to her confused.
"What? Why?"
"Do as I say." She says. I sigh and take off my shirt. I unclip the latches and Elsa takes the harness. My wings unfold and the lady gasps.
"Oh she's perfect. Just perfect. Alright I'll take both." Huh?
