I was on my way to America. My school had an opportunity for a few students to go from Canada to America for a year. I sent in a letter, not really expecting to win or even have a chance, but hey it was worth a shot. When they called my name over the intercom I freaked. I was leaving in only a few days so I had to pack. My friends and I were all sad that I was leaving but we would keep in contact. I was hoping to meet a guy and have a little fling before I go home. Someone who I wouldn't be sad to let go of and never see again.
I arrived at my new school with all my luggage and was excited to know where I was going to stay. I was told that a family whose child went to this high school was going to be housing me. I prayed that they were nice and not jerks that I would be stuck living with. As I walked to the office people were giving me weird looks, most likely because of my 2 suitcases that I was lugging around.
A boy approached me and I was amazed. He was hot, like damn. I could get used to going to school with him. "Would you like help with your bags? It looks like your struggling" He asked me.
"Uh... Y-yeah" I managed to say.
"I'm Dylan by the way!" He said, while he took one of my bags. "You are the exchange student right?"
"Yeah, I'm from Toronto" I was surprised how clear I said that sentence. I could see the office at the end of the hall.
"We're going to be roomies for the next year" Dylan said excitedly. I looked at him in shock. I was going to live with him. I was expecting a girl or a nerdy guy not this guy with amazing looks,
"Really, I think it will be fun" I said even though I was panicking.
"Since I have a car and everything we get to miss the day to hang out to help you to get settled"
"Okay" I said as we walked to his car. He had a nice jeep. Dylan being the gentleman he is tried to take my bag and put it in the trunk, but I stopped him and put it in myself. "I'm a strong girl Dylan" I said, showing him my guns.
"Wow, I'm impressed. So y/n tell me about your self. We have a fifteen minute drive"
I told him all about my life and friends back in Toronto. We ended up stopping at a McDonald's on the way home. Dylan was so confused when I asked him if they had poutine. "What the hell is poutine?" Dylan asked.
"It's so good it's fries with gravy and cheese. If you guys ever need me to make dinner, I can make it great."
My room was next to Dylan's. It was a nice but kind of empty room, it didn't feel like I was going to be living there for a year. After I mostly got unpacked, Dylan and I decided to just hang out. So far I loved his house. It was very modern looking, with black couches and dark brown coffee tables, don't even get me started on the artwork.
Dylan and I have a lot in common, I realized over the course of a couple hours. We both loved sports and animals. He was a total goofball and maybe I found myself crushing on him just a little bit.
His parents were so sweet and did not treat me like an outsider. They were very friendly and kind. Any sort of doubt I had about coming here was gone.

I had developed a huge crush on Dylan. I don't think anyone noticed though. We spend a lot of time together. At school we hung out at lunch and he introduced me to some of his girl friends whom I'm very close with. After school we do our homework together and mostly just chill and watch Netflix. The only girl who knows I like Dylan is my new friend Lily. She says Dylan always flirts with me and probably likes me too. I don't believe her, because I have seen how many girls swoon over the great Dylan O'Brien.
One day my friend y/f/n phoned and we started talking about what I have missed so far. She was the only friend I really keep in contact with. The rest of my friends just text me once in a blue moon. "So, how is Dylan?" She asked me. She knew how hot he was because I sent her a pic.
I thought Dylan wasn't home so I said, "Dylan, you meet hottie mchotterson, he's doing good" we both bursted out laughing at my remark. After that we just had a regular conversation.
A hour or so after I was done talking to y/f/n Dylan said to me "You know I've been called attractive before, but hottie mchotterson is a whole new ballpark, since when did you think this?" My face was bright red I could feel it.
"Um what are you talking about?" I said pretending like I wasn't about to die from embarrassment.
"Oh Dylan he's so hot, he's hottie mchotterson and he's doing good" Dylan said with a falsetto voice.
"Shut up Dylan" I said and threw a pillow at him.
"Serious, you can tell me anything" Dylan sat down next to me on my bed. The atmosphere got really tense, but I decided to tell him.
"Dylan, I like you a lot and as you've heard I think your hot, but that not just why I like you. It's your jokes and your smile and how you made me feel like I wasn't an outsider and how we have the best time just watching Netlfix all snuggled up on the couch. I know you don't feel the same and that's o-" Dylan cut me off my smashing his lips against mine.
"Y/n, thank god you like me back or else this year would have been really really damn hard. Dylan said in between kisses. By the time we stopped talking and kissing it was already pretty late.
"Do you want to stay and cuddle with me for tonight?" Dylan didn't even answer he just hopped into bed with me and I put my head on his chest. In the morning his mom came to wake me up like she usually did every morning.
"Y/n" She called when she opened the door. You and Dylan were both so tired that you weren't woken up by this. His mom suddenly realized that he was there next to you and said "Dylan O'Brien get up now." That woke you guys up.
Dylan did the wall of shame and went back to his room but not before giving you a wink. "So it finally happened huh?" Dylan's mom asked me.
"What happened?" I asked back confused.
"I owe Jim twenty dollars. You and Dylan finally got together I said it would take another month, but I guess I was wrong."
"So your not mad?"
"No dear, I'm happy that he found a great girl like you"

Dylan and I only have a week to be together. I don't want to go back to Toronto now. He was the best boyfriend any girl could ask for. He took me out on amazing dates like ice skating and trips to the zoo. Dylan and I had amazing chemistry and everyone saw it. I knew there was nothing that could be done and that even though this program gave me the best year of my life it was poisonous. You spend a whole year making relationships with people and making connections, for it all to be thrown out the window after a year.
Dylan and I were making out on his bed when suddenly I pushed him back. "Babe what's wrong?"
"I'm leaving in a few days, I will most likely will not see you again. Dylan I love you so much this is going to be terrible" I said, a tear sliding down my face.
"I know y/n. I love you too, but don't worry about it"
"Don't worry about it what do you mean?" I said getting a little bit upset.
"Y/n what if I told you that we arranged for you to spend your senior year here, living with me"
I looked at Dylan in shock. "No, Dylan if your shitting me right now I swear"
"I'm not I promise, we were going to wait a little bit longer to tell you, but I couldn't resist."
I gave him a kiss on the cheek, thinking about how lucky I am to have him as my boyfriend.
