After having to spend three days in the infirmary with Will Solace, they'd grown closer. Nico could admit that he was his friend.

But the first night out of the infirmary, Nico lays awake in the Hades cabin, staring at the black painted ceiling. The cabin has no light save for the small night light in the corner, that, as childish as it is, he can't sleep without.

Memories of the past three days replay in his mind and he smiles slightly in the dark as he remembers. He has friends. It's a nice feeling.

But a nagging thought in the back of his mind coaxes forward other memories of the time he spent with Will. Like the way Nico's heart beat faster whenever he was close to him. Like the way he couldn't help staring at Will just a second too long.

He hadn't thought of it much at the time, but now that he's alone in the dark, his mind begins to wander. This is how you used to feel with Percy.

It's a simple, blunt thought. A true thought. Nico turns over onto his side with a sigh. He's showing all symptoms of having a crush.

"Oh gods," he mutters to himself as he realizes, "I have a crush on Will."

Nico sits up quickly as if trying to leave behind what he said, what he thought. "No, no, no. Oh no. I can't have a crush on Will. He'd never...and I can't...."

He falls backwards onto his pillow, still whispering his thoughts to himself. Saying makes it sound more real, easier to accept.

"Yes...I have a crush on Will."

But it's so much easier to say when you're alone in the dark, so much easier to be unafraid, unashamed.

The next day he finds himself avoiding the son of Apollo, afraid that if they were to talk, Nico might accidentally think out loud all the things he'd thought last night. No way could he risk that.

It's mid-afternoon and Nico's sitting in the little hidden spot he'd found in the forest, curled up in the middle of a bunch of huge rocks and a few trees. It's about as far away from the camp while still being in the camp as he can get. A safe place for when he doesn't feel like dealing with people.

Nico never followed the camp schedule and no one ever gave him any grief about it, so he's quite surprised when an hour later he hears someone behind him say, "Nico! There you are! I've been looking for you for forever!"

He jumps slightly, startled. When he turns to see that it's Will Solace, he quickly turns back around.

Not to be discouraged, Will climbs over one of the rocks, sitting next to Nico in his little hiding spot. "Hey, you've been avoiding me all day, what's up with that?"

Nico tenses up slightly. He has to talk to Will now. This space is so small. Their shoulders and legs are touching. No, don't panic, he tell himself.

Out loud, he stammers, "I....I was just....I haven't been avoiding you, what are you talking about?"

Will looks at him, his usual playful grin replaced with a more serious expression, "No, you've been avoiding me, and I want to know why. Come on, I thought we were friends, Nico. Was it something I said? Did?"

Nico shakes his head, "No, I..." he sighs, pulling his knees up to his chest and wrapping his arms around them. His thoughts are going off again. He can't tell him what he's feeling. He can't. Will's probably straight anyways...

Then, just as he feared, his thoughts make their way out of his mouth and without even realizing it, he finds himself blurting out, "Are you straight?" Damn ADHD.

Will leans away from him slightly, "What?"

Nico feels his face turn red and he seems to curl up even more, "Sorry...I just...never mind...I was just wondering because...well...I'm...I..." Shut up, Nico! But he can't, he's already rambling, "I mean...I'm not....and you're so....I mean, I kinda...-"

Will cuts him off by reaching over and turning Nico's face towards his, planting a light kiss on his lips and effectively shutting him up. "I get it."

His face is bright red, but Nico can't stop or hide the smile on his face. "Did you just do that to shut me up or did you actually mean it?"

Will grins, "To be honest, I've been wanting to do that for a while now."
