Chapter 4
"P..oo,police?" Sam spoke shakily.
"What the hell!" Hazel screamed. She started pacing around, obviously scared shitless."Why did you call the bloody police, you could've just been a normal person and knocked but nooo, you obviously have no sense of normality in that thick brain yours so you called the police!" Hazel kept ranting while walking out the door followed by a dressed Sam. Melody's and my laughter hadn't stopped. "Did you actually call the police?" i asked, still laughing, "Yea," she answered through her giggles. After our laughter had died out, we walked downstairs to see my mum comforting Hazel and Sam, patiently awaiting the police. We walked down the stairs and joined them on the couch ,my mum finally acknowledging our presence. "You are grounded young lady and Melody, please expect a phone call being made to your parents, this has gone too far, just look at your sister" my mum said sternly. I turned to face Hazel who was slightly shaking "What the hell mum! We didn't do anything. If it's normal for my sister to tie me up in my own room then I think it's pretty acceptable for Melody to call the police because she cares about my safety unlike other people in this house!" I lectured. My mum sat there gaping at me. Her mouth opened to say something but the door bell rang. "I'll get it," my mum spoke, tugging her shirt down a bit. I actually couldn't believe this woman. She opened the door, "Hello officer,"
"Yes, hello, we had a call about a kidnapping?" the officer questioned.
"Ah yes, it was just a big mis-understanding, a few pranks were pulled and she called the police because she was scared, I'm sorry for wasting your time,"
"Ma'am, you know prank calling is a serious felony, your distress call made us rush here instead of doing more important things."
My mum glanced at the officers name tag, "Mark, was it?" he nodded slightly, "Please let this one go, it won't happen again?" she pleaded. The officer looked my mum up and down. My mum noticed and played along, pulling her shirt down. Seriously, my dad needs to see this but then again, he does the same thing. "Please?" she asked again, "Okay but last chance, next time I'll have to fine you, okay? he asked, in a low tone. "I think that was meant to be seductive," Melody whispered. I cringed at the thought, "See what I have to live with?" I whisper back. Melody looked at me and patted my back sarcastically while Hazel and Sam, were eagerly awaiting my mums return. "Yes sir," my mum saluted and gave her million dollar smile, "Well good day ma'am," he spoke, walking away. My mum closed the door and came to us, "Now Caramel, go to your room and await your call to dinner and Melody, I think it's best for you to go home, Sam, would you like to join us for dinner?" my mum said sternly. Melody gave a smile and went to the door to leave. "Mum, you invite Sam, the guy who was lying in MY bed naked to give your daughter a 'surprise', for dinner but ask my best friend who called the cops because she thought i was in actual danger to leave? Seriously, this family needs to get its shit together" i screamed, following Melody out of the house, slamming the door behind me, "Wanna go to the mall, I think my mum deserves to pay some bills for me," "Let's go" Melody cheered.
We drove to the mall with Ed Sheeran playing in the background. It was one of those times where you don't wanna talk and just wanna stare out the window, listening to soft songs in the background and you don't want to stop driving, you just want the road to keep going until you feel better again. Melody knew i needed quiet so she drove to a mall that was further away. I watched all the building go past and the trees flicker. Cars whizzed by and everything was so fast, everyone seemed to be in a hurry. A phone started ringing and Melody picked up and put it on speaker, "Yup"
"Melody dear, could you please tell what you're wearing tonight so I can iron it out?" her mum asked her sweetly. We were both from rich families. My dad is into the share market and my mum is a lawyer while her parents are well know, successful doctors. Money was never a problem for us but the difference was that Melody's parents were there for her. They were a normal family who didn't it their wealth come in the way of family and being good people. Yeah she got more luxuries than a normal teenager would've got but they were just so down to earth and they loved her. If she was remotely sick, they would be by her side, if she was performing for a concert, they would have front row tickets intact, they have been more of a family to me than my own parents have. I wish I had parents like hers. Melody glanced at m nervously.
