Chapter 9

After sleeping on it, I decided to do it.

I'm going on a date with Calum.

Instead of calling him back to tell him this news, I decided to surprise him. I looked up restaurants to find the best one he would like. I wanted something nice, but not too nice. Finally, I found the perfect place. I went out and bought flowers, it was very cheesy but I wanted this to go well.

I was getting ready to leave when Niall appeared by my side.

"Please take me with you." He begged. It was painfully clear he didn't want to be alone right now.

I let out a sigh. "I don't know Niall, what would you do?"

"I'll sit in the car the whole time."

I gave him a look. "The car I'll be driving with Calum in it?"

Niall stayed quiet. "I'll get a hotel room and stay there."

"Ni, I don't know if I'm staying for the night so getting a hotel room for a day?"

"Please Ashton, I'll find something."

The tone in his voice immediately convinced me. Soon, we were both in my car heading towards Calum's house. The car was filled with silence so I turned on some music.

I look over at Niall, who has his head turned. It's not hard to tell his eyes are glassy and tears are streaming down his face.

I reach to turn off the music but Niall stops my hand before I can.

I intertwine my fingers with Niall's and I feel him squeeze. We finish the song in silence.

For the rest of the ride we only listen to happy songs but Niall never let's go until we arrive. I sit outside his house and take a deep breath.

Niall looks me straight in the eyes.

"You don't like Calum like that do you."

I was taken aback. "Why would you say that?"

"I thought you liked Harry, Calum's best friend."

"Well, I do but-"

"This is a bad idea."

I get mad at this point. "So why bring it up now? Why not tell me before we left?"

Niall responded with silence.

I walk up to the door, flowers in hand, and knock. I stand there for what feel like a long time before the door opens.

"Ashton?" Calum stood there, shirtless and only in grey sweats.

I wish I could say that captured my attention but it wasn't. Instead! the beautiful curly haired boy in the back did. He had a sweatshirt and sweatpants on, his hair was mess, and he looked incredible. Thankfully, I didn't focus on him for too long and returned to Calum.

"I believe we have a date tonight."

He stood them frozen, but soon recovered.

"I'm not ready give me a minute." He rushed and slammed the door.

I was a bit shocked but shook it off. The door soon reopened.

"Oh my god I'm sorry, come in." This time, it was Harry.

Harry looked past me and there was Niall walking towards me.

"Sorry to interrupt, but you never took me to a hotel." Niall said annoyed.

"Hotel, why?" Harry said.

"I need a place to stay while Calum and Ashton are making children."

I immediately coughed from discomfort but Harry was amused.

"Stay here." The way Harry said it made jealousy boil.

Niall punched my arm.

"Hear that Ash? I'll be here." He let out a grin and I gave me a quick glare, which Niall still managed to catch.

Niall walked inside the house and Harry followed, leaving me stunned at the doorstep. Calum came down the steps shortly after. My eyes widened a bit, as he can clean up very well.

"Ready?" He asked grinning.

"Yeah, yeah, uh let's go." I didn't want to leave Harry and Niall alone, but I don't think Niall would do anything to hurt me.

I grabbed Calum's hand and gave me a soft smile, tonight was about us.
