Author's Note!!:

So I haven't really gone into much detail about Delia and Asher's background and I wanted to kind of do that in this chapter. Hopefully this is going fairly well and it's my first story I've written on here so it definitely won't be perfect but enjoy!!

Delia had drifted off to sleep on the couch with her head resting on Ash's chest and she began to dream (more like have a nightmare) about her childhood/past.

*DELIA'S POV:*

"Honey I need you to go upstairs and put some clothes into your suitcase. Your father is on his way home and you need to leave right now. He's been at the bar again and from what I could hear over the phone, he's very angry and very drunk." my mom said urgently.

I shook my head and tears threatened to spill over from my eyes.

"No mama I need to stay here with you. Please don't make me go to Ash's house again. I always worry so much and I don't want you to get hurt again. Please."

She firmly shook her head no and the tears began to stream down my face as I swiveled around on my heel and hurried upstairs to pack. I knew that he was probably only a few minutes away from home and I began to quickly throw random clothes and some makeup and hair things into my small suitcase. I finished packing and started to head down the carpeted stairs when I heard the front door slam open and heavy footsteps entered the kitchen.

The loud sound of a slap rang out through the house. I was crying so hard that I could barely see but instead of going out the back door before he found me, I dropped my suitcase on the stair next to me and ran into the kitchen. My mother laid on the floor with a big red mark across her face and my father was shouting things  that probably shouldn't even be repeated.

I ran towards him and shoved him against the island in the middle of the kitchen.

"What the heck dad stop it!!" I screamed at him. I backed away a little bit and ran towards the stairs to grab my suitcase when I felt two large hands grab my waist. I just knew they were going to leave bruises by how hard he had gripped me. My dad swung me around and threw me against a wall; our faces inches apart. I was more angry and afraid and I slapped him across the face but he remained in his place hovering over me. My hand stung from the stubble on his cheek and the hard slap that I had just delivered but I smirked and said, "What?! Are you gonna cry now?! Did that hurt?!"

He made a growling sound and said, "You little bitch."

He drove his knee into my stomach over and over until I was on the ground whimpering. He gave a satisfied laugh and began to walk away but then thought better of it and sat down on a nearby stool to watch my mother and I in our weakened conditions to make sure we didn't "escape" or something like that.

Eventually, he lolled off to sleep in his drunkenness and I cautiously took my phone out of my back pocket which thankfully didn't wake my dad up. I swiftly texted Ash and said 'Code Red'. The last thing I remember was shutting off my phone, putting it back in my pocket and then I passed out from exhaustion.

When I woke up, I was lying next to my mother at Asher's house and a worried looking Ash sat on the edge of the bed watching me. I faintly smiled towards him and whispered, "Thanks. Love you."

Ash whispered, "No problem. Love ya too." He smiled back at me and I closed my eyes so I could sleep again.

Delia felt someone shaking her and started crying in real life while saying, "No dad stop! Please stop. Stop it!"

"Delia! Wake up! It's ok! You're safe. I'm right here. It's okay." Asher said as he gently shook her shoulders and whispered comforting things to her. He looked over his shoulder and realized that the footsteps outside in the hallway had suddenly stopped coming closer. He frowned and a dark look came over his face.

Delia's pretty green eyes fluttered open and when she saw the look on Ash's face she said, "W-what is it?" while sniffling and wiping her eyes.

"Uh well I kind of heard a really loud crash from somewhere in the house and footsteps coming towards the living room (that they were in), but if it was Rosa, she didn't respond to me." he said in a nervous voice.

Delia's face turned pale. "Well maybe it's just your parents and they forgot to turn on a light or didn't hear you or something." she said trying to reassure him.

"Yeah right," Ash said sarcastically, " I wouldn't believe that my parents of all people would be home at this time of night in a million years! They're probably on some dumb business trip or some other "important" thing."

If it was even possible for Delia to turn more pale, she did and said, "Well then who the heck is or was outside this room?!"

Both of their heads slowly turned towards the door and just as they did that, the door slammed shut.
